Placed 10th in the points table, U Mumba are more or less out of the tournament. They got thrashed by the Pirates in their last match. This was a 21 point defeat at the hands of the 3 time champions. U Mumba has lost its last 5 matches as fatigue caught up with them. The long season took a toll on their players. The absence of Guman Singh hurt them badly as they are just surviving till the end of the league stage. The Bengal Warriors are in a precarious position as they are placed 7th in the points table. U Mumba had defeated the Bengal Warriors by just 2 points in their last match in this season. But since then, both teams have gone in opposite directions as far as their form is concerned. Former champions were placed 2nd in the points table after playing 6 matches. But they quickly lost momentum in their next few matches and slipped to the 7th spot. Bengal has been able to win just 8 out of their 19 matches and this may not be enough for them to qualify for the play-offs. The Warriors lost to the Gujarat Giants last week. But they were lucky to face the Telegu Titans in their last match. Bengal hammered the Titans by 20 points to give them another chance for the play-offs. Captain Maninder scored 8 points but it was their young raider Nitin Kumar who scored a Super 10. The Bengal defense looted 18 tackle points in the match apart from inflicted 4 all-outs. This was one of their best performance as they earn 55 team points. But whenever the Warriors have come up with such a brilliant bout, they have faltered in their next match. Will this trend continue?

Captain Maninder Singh has led from the front with some deadly raiding. He has 174 raid points from 136 successful raids. This includes 8 Super 10’s and 5 Super raids. No doubt the Bengal Warriors are totally dependent on their captain. The former champions have been involved in 2 TIED matches this season which is the highest by any team. Young raider Nitin Kumar graduated in this match with a Super 10. This augurs well for the Warriors as they have found a perfect back-up for Maninder Singh and Srikant Jadhav. 

Defender Shubham Shinde is one of the best defenders on the circuit. He has executed 56 successful tackles in 19 matches. He has been deadly with his ankle holds and blocks. Left corner Aditya and defender Darpan have impressed. Currently the Bengal Warriors are using the services of defenders Jaskeerat Singh and Harsh Lad apart from Vaibhav Garje.

Unfortunately the Bengal Warriors have never been able to handle U Mumba. The Warriors have won just 4 out of their 19 encounters with U Mumba. They lost both their league games to Mumba last year. Bengal Warriors have not defeated Mumba since season 7. This will be a contest full of fireworks as the Warriors are in good form while U Mumba seems to be struggling with its combination.

U Mumba have been disappointing this season. They worked hard to win 6 matches in the season, but throughout the tournament they had breakdown issues. Mumba was never able to forge a lethal combination which could help them win matches consistently. Placed 10th in the points table, U Mumba have a very little chance to qualify for the next round.  

They lost to the Patna Pirates in their last match. Though young Iranian raider Zafardanesh scored a Super 10, none of their defenders could perform. Mumba looked fatigued and tired as their opponents went on to win the match by a margin of 21 points. The absence of Guman Singh hurt them as Mumba did not have any backup raiders for support. 

U Mumba is faced with a unique issue, breakdown of their defense and raiders alternatively. Raiders Guman Singh, Zafardanesh and Visvanath has done well but not collectively. They have suffered whenever Guman Singh and Zafardanesh are not able to score. Captain Surender Singh has been just above average with his tackles. U Mumba defenders have not impressed as a unit. Right corner Rinku and defender Mahender Singh have delivered but in phases. With an injury to Rinku Singh, the Mumba defense has become more fragile.

With just about 35% efficiency in team tackles, U Mumba cannot dominate their opponents. They have inflicted 18 all-outs while conceding 27 in 19 matches. This indicates that neither their raiders are not able to dominate nor their defenders are able to hunt down effectively.

This contest will be the toughest for U Mumba as they take on the former champions. Mumba defenders may have a tough time handling Maninder Singh and Nitin Kumar. Fortunately, U Mumba has dominated the Warriors over the years. They have won 14 out of their 19 encounters. Mumba has not lost to the Warriors since season 8 and that is a sensational record. But U Mumba will feel the pressure as the Bengal Warriors are in red hot form this year.

The Bengal Warriors are desperate to win each and every match remaining in this season. Placed 7th in the points table, it might just be a touch and go situation for them. Fortunately raider Nitin Kumar took the lead against the Telegu Titans in their last match. He will score a Super 10 against U Mumba too. Captain Maninder Singh will trouble the Mumba defense. He may end up scoring more than 10 points. The Bengal defense has been a bit inconsistent, but they will perform quite well against the out of form Mumba raiders.

U Mumba are looking like sitting ducks. Apart from raider Zafardanesh, nothing seems to be working for them. The fragility of their defense may lead to multiple all-outs and unforced errors. Defenders Sombir and Santhapanaselvma might be effective but the second half will be tough to survive. This might be the biggest loss that U Mumba may suffer in this season. Bengal Warriors will be able to avenge their defeat at the hands of Mumba. Bengal may live to fight another day.
