Just a month back the season started with an encounter between these two teams. The Defending champions had an emphatic start to the season with a victory over UP Yodha who had superstar Pardeep Narwal in their squad.
Pardeep Narwal captured the imagination of all kabaddi fans in his debut season itself and has continued to perform better every season. He is capable of decimating any opposition on any given day, and that is the way UP Yodha will approach this season.
But the journey has not been very sweet for the defending champions as they have failed to maintain the intensity in the next few games. They have lost 5 games and tied 1 of their encounters. The only positive aspect for the Warriors is their captain Maninder who has been relentless, fit, and unbeatable. He has earned 138 points in 11 games and he is their one-man army.
Pardeep Narwal has not been able to recreate the magic he is known for. The opposition has got the better of him in most games and he is playing second fiddle to Surender Gill. But the Yodha’s are in a better position than the defending champions and they may just avenge their defeat this time.
If the defending champions are still in the hunt for the playoff, it is only due to their captain Maninder who has been rock solid in all the games he has played. Apart from earning 138 points from 106 successful raids, he has the most Super 10’s this season, 9 to be precise. Maninder is the synonym for the Bengal Warriors.
The Warriors have been inconsistent even though they started the season on a winning note. Time and again their defense has let them down and they have struggled to tackle. Veteran Rishank Devadiga is not fully fit, while raider Sukesh Hegde has been the only support for Maninder.
The Warriors are more inclined to play defenders and all-rounder’s but this ploy has not worked for most of the time. They had to work extremely hard in their last game as they overcame the Telegu Titans by just one point.
Their defense has an international flavor with Abozar Mighani and Nabibaksh at the helm of affairs, but Abozar has not been efficient.
They have executed only 7 Super Tackles and have earned just 93 team tackle points from 11 games.
They have conceded 388 team points in 11 games.
They have inflicted 13 all-outs but they have also conceded 12 in return.
They will have to rise above the occasion, remind themselves of the game where they beat the UP Yodha, and try and repeat that performance.
TheYodha’s have improved a lot in the last few games as they have learned to survive without much from Pardeep Narwal. Most of the teams have got the measure of how to tackle Pardeep and he has been off the mat for long durations during most games.
Surender Gill has emerged as their raiding spearhead and he has earned 94 raid points from 69 successful raids in 11 games while Pardeep has been able to earn only 79 raid points.
They beat the Puneri Paltan in their last game where Surender Gill gathered 21 raid points. Shrikant Jadhav has also emerged as a reliable third raider. The biggest improvement for the UP Yodha’s has come in the defense.
Left corner Sumit, Ashu Singh, left cover Shubham Kumar and captain Nitesh has been contributing consistently.
Sumit has executed 25 successful tackles in 11 games.
Nitesh, Ashu, and Sumit have collectively earned 79 tackle points.
Surinder Gill has put in 5 Super raids in 11 games.
The Yodha’s have not lost any of their last 4 games and they will be high on confidence when they take on the Bengal Warriors.
Bengal Warriors have a lot of work on as they are still struggling to win matches regularly. They are heavily dependent on Maninder for the income from raids, but their defense has leaked points regularly. Many times they are also very predictable. Their defense will have to be careful when they take on the UP Yodha’s as Surender Gill is in great form.
Though Pardeep may play as a sidekick, he will earn his bounty which will put pressure on the Warriors. The Yodha’s will expect their defense to be super quick while tackling Maninder. If they handle him well, the Warriors do not have many raiding options which will force them to play safe. Amit Nirwal has earned 2 High 5’s for the Warriors and he will have to combine well with left corner Ran Singh to unsettle the UP Yodha raiders.
All the Warriors will have to contribute else the UP Yodha will run away with the match.
UP Yodha will win.
