Welcome to the final day at the Netaji Indoor Stadium at Kolkata as Dabang Delhi take on the Tamil Thalaiva. Delhi has already qualified for the next round by winning 11 out of their 20 matches. Tamil Thalaiva could not peak at the right time as they have won just 8 out of their 20 bouts. Tamil could have easily won another couple of matches if they could have worked overtime. But this could not happen and they will not move into the next round.

Being a dead rubber for the Thalaiva, they may try out new young players. Tamil got hammered by the Puneri Paltan in their last match by a huge margin of 27 points. This was the final nail in the coffin. Even if the Thalaiva could have got the margin down to a couple of points, it would have helped them. Will they be able to come out of this bashing? Dabang Delhi too lost a low scoring match to Jaipur Pink Panthers. But Delhi has already won enough matches this season. It has been a superlative performance by Dabang as they recovered in time after the freak injury to Naveen Kumar. Dabang Delhi will go all out against the Thalaiva so that they can maintain their position in the top 3 in the points table.

Dabang Delhi K.C. Preview

Runners up of season 7 and the Champions of Season 8 were left licking their wounds last time around as they ran out of gas to finish 6th. This was primarily due to the freak injury to Naveen Kumar mid-season. But this year, even though Naveen Kumar got seriously injured, Dabang had a backup plan called Ashu Malik. Captain Ashu has been their flag-bearer in dire straits. Ashu has earned 222 raid points in 190 successful raids. He was the first to complete a double century of points in season 10. He also has the best strike rate for any raider. Delhi seems to be weak in their defense as they have only one big name in the form of Vishal Bharadwaj. New head coach Ranbir Singh Khokar will have to forge new partnerships in the defense. He will have to try out different combinations for the corners and covers so as to build an impregnable wall.

Defenders Ashish and Yogesh have brewed a new partnership this season. Both corners have been consistent as well as lethal. While Yogesh has executed 57 successful tackles in 20 matches, Ashish has 45 in 17 matches. Both defenders have been exceptional and they will be the most sought after next year in the auctions. The efforts of these youngsters has resulted in Dabang Delhi improving their efficiency in team tackles up to 40%. But Dabang got caught in a mess in their last match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Jaipur turned the table with a classic slow down policy which reduced the raid earnings of Delhi. Ashu Malik earned 9 points but none of the support raiders could contribute. Delhi tried using young raider Manu but he could score just 2 points. The other chink in the armor of Dabang Delhi was their incomplete defense. Though Ashish and Yogesh earned 7 tackle points between them, defenders Vikrant and right cover Mohit could not open their account. Dabang Delhi will plan to rectify this issue as they take on the Tamil Thalaiva.

Tamil Thalaiva is a tricky opponent for Dabang Delhi as they have not beaten them since season 8. They have scored heavily against the Thalaiva as well as lost steam on many occasions. Tamil Thalaiva defeated Delhi by 11 points in their last league encounter this season. It was a shocking defeat for Delhi. With some inexperienced players at the corners, this will be one of the biggest test for Delhi as they need to rectify a few issues before the next round begins.

Tamil Thalaivas Preview

One of the most popular teams on the circuit has under-performed over the years. Generally tenants of the lower part of the points table, the Thalaiva was a prodigy who never became a star. Yet their fans have faith in this team which surprised everyone by finishing 5th last season. Without any big names, Tamil Thalaiva worked together as a team to achieve some daring victories. But season 10 has been a mixed bag for the men in yellow as they woke up quite late in the tournament. The Thalaiva had a great run mid-season but failed to win enough matches. Placed 9th in the points table after winning 8 matches, Tamil Thalaiva has failed to qualify for the next round.

Uncanny names like Ajinkya Pawar, Narender along with defenders Sagar and Himanshu rose from the ashes to bring laurels to their team. Sagar was one of the best defenders of season 9 as 45 successful tackles in 17 games. Their left corner Sahil Gulia was precise in this tackles with 53 succssful tackles in 23 games of season 9.

But this season, the exploits of both defenders could not save the Thalaiva. Sagar and Sahil have collectively executed 120 successful tackles in 20 matches. But the Thalaiva fell short of a collective effort in raid earnings. Tamil got hammered by the Puneri Paltan in their last game. They lost the match by 27 points which more or less shut doors for them. With the Puneri Paltan neutralizing Narender Kandola, Tamil Thalaiva had to revert to desperate measures by using multiple raiders. This did not work for them at all. Additionally, the Paltan raiders deceived defenders Sahil and Raunak as both could not even open their account. This was a sad outing for the Thalaiva as they got caught in the brilliant tactical net of the Puneri Paltan. This loss also doused all the possibilities of entering the next round.

As a team, the Thalaiva executed 243 successful tackles last season which was just behind leaders and eventual champions Jaipur Pink Panthers. One of their weak areas last season was that they conceded too many points as well as all-outs which shackled them in most matches. It has be a “Dream could not come true” season for the Thalaiva as they take on former champions Dabang Delhi in their final bout at Kolkata.

Dabang Delhi take on the Tamil Thalaiva with a feeling of redemption. That was because they got thrashed by the Jaipur Pink Panthers in their last match. Though they have qualified for the next round, the loss against Jaipur was big drop in momentum. Captain Ashu Malik will score a big Super 0 as he will exploit the fatigued Tamil defense. The Delhi support raiders need to complement his efforts. Defenders Ashish and Yogesh will be tough on the Tamil raiders as one of them will score a Hi 5.

Tamil Thalaiva will try out new players as they have failed to get enough victories for qualification. Raiders like Satish, Vishal Chahal and Jatin may be tried early. But Iranian defenders Amirhossein Bastami and M Khaboudrahangi were exceptional in the last match. They will display their raw power to curtail the Delhi support raiders. Overall the Tamil Thalaiva may not be able to push Dabang Delhi too much, but they will be aggressive in the first half. Dabang may inflict multiple all-outs on the men in yellow as they will end on the right side of the finish line.

Dabang Delhi will win.
