Haryana Steelers are struggling to put in some consistent performances. Every time they win a match, they lose focus to lose their next. They have won just 2 out of their last 5 matches. But the Steelers are hanging by a thin thread at the 6th spot in the points table. If they are not able to win all their remaining matches, they might miss the bus for the next round. Former Champions Bengal Warriors too look fatigued and out of ideas. After winning 3 matches in a row, their fans thought that the Warriors are back with a bang. But Bengal got smashed in their next 2 games. They lost to the Jaipur Pink Panthers by a margin of 17 points while the Patna Pirates roasted them by a margin of 16 points.

Hence their mental state will be questionable as they take on the vibrant Haryana Steelers. Both teams are missing the killer punch in their matches. While Bengal Warriors is heavily dependent on Mighty Maninder, the Steelers have lost a bit of sheen in their defense. Bengal Warriors defeated the Steelers just once a long time ago, that was in season 7. Haryana has dominated the Warriors and they won their first league encounter on 7th January. Hence this will be an uphill task for the Bengal Warriors.

Haryana Steelers Preview

The Haryana Steelers are riding their luck in this season. After hitting a few speed breakers at the beginning, the Steelers still have not gathered enough pace. Placed 6th in the points table, they are still searching their X factor. They drafted Siddharth Desai for a hefty amount during the auctions but he has failed to impress. Coach Manpreet has been trying out different combinations in order to win games consistently as well as survive the entire season.

The Steelers had a tough outing against Dabang Delhi. They put up a brave fight only to lose the match by a margin of 3 points. Siddharth Desai scored his first Super 10 of the season. The lack of intensity in the first half cost them the match. The Steelers conceded a crucial all-out in the first half which turned out to be the difference between both teams. This was an encounter that Haryana should have won or at least forced a TIE. With time running out for Haryana Steelers, the encounter with the Bengal Warriors is like a blessing in disguise.

Haryana’s raiding efficiency is just about 32% which is slightly better than Telegu Titans who are at the bottom of the points table. Their success rate in team tackles is about 43% which is much better. Defenders Rahul Sethpal and Mohit Nandal have worked in tandem but none of them are in the top 10. A collective defensive effort is missing from the Steelers. Another headache for the Steelers is that they have conceded 22 all-outs in 15 matches. Vinay has been their most successful raider in the tournament.

Hence with no defender or raider in the respective top 10 list, Haryana Steelers have their backs to the wall. Fortunately they have a fantastic record against the Bengal Warriors. Haryana has won 8 out of their 9 encounters with the Warriors. They have not lost to them since September 2019. Haryana Steelers need to win this match by a huge margin so that they keep themselves afloat for the next round.

Bengal Warriors Preview

Former champions are at the crossroads in the season. They seem to be preparing for a different journey. The Bengal Warriors wobbled a bit in the beginning but they got back on track very soon. They were in the top 5 after playing 4-5 matches. But suddenly they are going through a drought especially with their defense. They have lost 2 consecutive matches after winning 3 in a row. This is primarily due to the breakdown in their defense.

Their success rate in team tackles has dropped down to about 37% after 15 matches.

They have conceded 571 team points in the tournament.

The Bengal Warriors have conceded 23 all-outs in 15 matches and they have inflicted just 19 on their opponents.

They looked out of sorts in their last 2 matches. They lost to the Jaipur Pink Panthers by a margin of 17 points. This was after they were on a 3 match winning spree. The Warriors faltered against the Patna Pirates in their next game. Young raider Nitin Kumar scored a Super 10 while Mighty Maninder was cornered by the Pirates. Defender Shubham Shinde eared 4 tackle points as well as a green card. But he did not get much support from his teammates. Bengal trailed by 9 points at half-time as they conceded 3 all-outs in the entire match. The drop in intensity was visible. Can the Bengal Warriors overcome fatigue as they still have to win all their remaining matches if they dream of making it to the next round.

As the Bengal Warriors take on the Haryana Steelers, their fans will be worried about their future in the season. The Warriors have an abysmal record against the Steelers. Bengal has won just once in their 9 encounters. This was way back in season 7. The Warriors lost the Steelers in their first league encounter with them. This was on 7th January 2023 when the Warriors lost by 6 points.

Though the Steelers are struggling, the Bengal Warriors will find it extremely difficult to beat the Haryana Steelers.

Welcome to a very important encounter of season 10 which may just decide the future of both teams. Haryana needs to win to stay alive for the next round, while the Bengal Warriors are struggling to inch into the top 5. Haryana Steelers have grappled with form and unavailability of players. Though Siddharth Desai scored a Super 10 in the last match he will be far from impressive. Raider Shivam Patare will score effectively. Though none of the Haryana raiders may score a Super 10, they will collectively earn enough. Captain Jaideep and right corner Mohit Nandal will target Maninder Singh as defender Rahul Sethpal will be aggressive through the match.

The Bengal Warriors are running out of ideas. Captain Maninder too looks fatigued while young raider Nitin Kumar is their only hope. Defender Shubham Shinde will hunt precisely but overall the Bengal defense will be lackluster. Bengal will be slow to take off and that might cost them. This will be a very interesting match as both teams will leak points through unforced errors. The team which conceded more all-outs will lose the match.

Haryana Steelers will win.
