The Haryana Steelers have peaked at the right time in the season to carve their way up the points table. They were inconsistent through the first half of the season but recovered in time to win 11 out of their 18 matches. They have lost just 1 out of their last 5 matches. The Steelers are lucky as they still have another 3 league matches post this one. Hence even if they falter against the Patna Pirates, Haryana still has some breathing space.

The Pirates had a tough time against the Telegu Titans in their last match. Patna escaped with a 2 point victory to secure their place in the next round. None of their raiders could score a Super 10. They were lucky that the rampaging Pawan Sehrawat did not take them t the cleaners after scoring 16 raid points. Raider Manjeet was their savior with 8 raid points as the Pirates hoodwinked the Titans. But the Haryana Steelers have generally troubled the Pirates in the past. Patna defeated the Steelers by 13 points in an earlier encounter in the season. But with the qualification at stake, the Steelers will be very aggressive as the Pirates take them at the indoor stadium in Panchkula.

Haryana Steelers Preview

The Hayana Steelers are gearing up at the right time in the tournament. After a shaky start, they have found the perfect recipe to cook the 40 minutes on the mat. Placed 6th in the points table with 60 points they are on the verge of grappling the last spot in the next round. Though the Bengal Warriors are up their tail, the Steelers still have 3 more league matches after they lock horns with the Patna Pirates. This gives them the cushion as they are back on their home turf for the last leg of the league stage. The major concern for the Steelers in this season was their raiding. They decided to replace superstar Siddharth Desai as he was not effective at all. This was a huge decision as the Haryana Steelers had signed him for a hefty amount in the auctions. Haryana tried the services of veteran Chandran Ranjit which worked for some time. But the Steelers went ahead with the young raiding pair of Vinay and Shivam Patare as experienced Siddharth and Manjeet were terribly out of form.

Shivam scored 12 raid points in the last match against the UP Yodha. He has been perfect side-kick to Vinay. The Steelers have not suffered in their defense due to the instability in the raiding department. This has helped them win matches under pressure. Captain Jaideep Dahiya and right corner Rahul Sethpal have been deadly with their tackles. Apart from Rahul and Jaideep, right cover Mohit Nandal has executed 54 successful tackles in 18 matches while captain Jaideep has executed 49 successful tackles this season. Left corner Mohit has also contributed to the cause of the team. This makes the Steelers unbeatable. Haryana defeated the UP Yodha in their last match by 16 points. Shivam Patare and Vinay earned a Super 10 each while Mohit Nandal scored a Hi 5. Coach Manpreet has instilled a lot of confidence in his team apart from using some unknown youngsters tactically in some matches. This has helped the Haryana Steelers tide over difficult situations.

Haryana Steelers will be up against a wayward Patna Pirates. The qualification to the next round will be at stake. Though the Steelers are in red-hot form, they need to be careful against Patna. Haryana has won 4 out of their 10 encounters with the Pirates. They lost one of their league games to Patna last year. Though the Pirates look fragile, Steelers cannot take them lightly.

Patna Pirates Preview

After a scratchy start to season 10, the Pirates are back as they have qualified for the next round. Mid-season they were placed 9th with just 3 victories from 7 matches. The Patna Pirates have an inexperience defense while their senior raiders Manjeet and Sachin Tanwar were not able to earn enough. But the Pirates rejuvenated themselves in the last 5 matches as they have not lost since a couple of weeks. This propelled them in the top 5 as they are currently placed 4th with a confirmed ticket to the next round.

Patna had a tough time in their last match against the Telegu Titans. They had to win the match at any cost to secure their place in the play-offs. With Telegu Captain Pawan Sehrawat looting 16 raid points, it was a dead end for the Pirates. Fortunately the raiding trio of Manjeet, Sachin and Sandeep earned collectively. The Pirates also used M Sudhakar as their fourth raider in the match out of compulsion. Defender Krishnan and Mayur Kadam saved the day along with all-rounder Ankit as the Pirates a crucial all-out in the second half to win the match.

Their success rate in team tackles has improved from 33% to 39% in the last 5 matches. Patna has conceded 727 team points apart the 23 all-outs they have conceded in 21 games. The Pirates are seriously missing Iranian all-rounder Mohammedreza who was part of their team last year. Since his move to the Puneri Paltan, the Pirates have not been able to find any able replacement.

Defender Krishnan is their only defender who has been consistent. He has executed 66 successful tackles in 21 matches. Captain Neeraj Kumar was replaced by Mayur Kadam and the move has worked.  All-rounder Ankit and M Babu have forged a decent combination. Another major concern for the Pirates is their lack of intensity in the first half of every match. They have consistently conceded all-outs in the first 10-15 minutes of every match. They will be up against a very aggressive Haryana Steelers who beat the UP Yodha convincingly in their last match. The Pirates have generally given a tough fight to the Steelers over the years. But on current form, they lag far behind their opponents. This will be a very important match for Patna as the result of this game will decide their fortune in the remainder of the league.

This will be an important encounter for Haryana at Panchkula. The Steelers will go all out against their arch-rivals. The Steelers look strong in their defense with Captain Jaideep Dahiya and Mohit Nandal at the helm of affairs. Both will target Patna raider Sachin. Right corner Rahul Sethpal will attack raider Manjeet. This will help the Steelers limit the Pirates score. But Haryana will struggle in their raiding as Siddharth Desai may not be able to score too many points. But raiders Vinay and Shivam Patare will resonate as one of them will score a Super 10.

The Pirates will unleash their raiding trio of Sachin Tanwar, M Sudhakar and Manjeet. One of them will score a Super 10 and may be a super raid in the second half. Defenders Krishnan, Mayur Kadam and Ankit will trouble the Haryana raiders through the match. This will be a perfect face-off between the defense of both teams. Patna and Haryana are dependent on their raiding trio and both teams will leak points due to unforced errors in the second half. This will be an entertain encounter with Haryana having the upper hand.

Haryana Steelers will win.
