The Haryana Steelers have entered the top 3 in the points table after a consistent performance over the week. They have won their last 3 games and have become one of the top contenders for the title. Puneri Paltan played their heart out against the Patna Pirates only to lose steam in the second half. The Paltan does not have much of a chance to make it to the play-off’s now. They will be up against the in-form Steelers who have maintained very high intensity in the second half of the season. Raiders Vikash Kandola and Vinay have been impressive but it was raider Ashish who stole the show against the Tamil Thalaiva in the last match with 16 points. This has been the hallmark of the Steelers as coach Rakesh Kumar has groomed youngsters for the climax post interval. The Puneri Paltan did well in their raiding against the Pirates with counter attacks and Super raids but their defence let them down in the second half with unforced errors. They will have to perform better if they dream of upsetting the Steelers. The Haryana Steelers look set for another good show and full points to maintain their position in the top 3.

Haryana Steelers Preview

Haryana Steelers started the season on a quite note trying to get into the groove. Mid-season they overtook a lot of teams and now they are placed 3rd in the points table after 18 games. They have stunned some of the bigger teams and their strength has been team work.

When you check the statistics for the Steelers, you find that they have 2 of their defenders in the top 10 of the season, Jaideep and Surender Nada. Jaideep has been phenomenal with 54 successful tackles in 18 games. Though Surender Nada has missed a few games due to injury, the other defenders have combined well to keep up the successful tackle percentage.

They have won 3 consecutive games and their score difference looks healthy. Raiders Vikash Kandola has been their incredible star with 151 raid points from 18 games. He has been consistent, super fit and agile throughout the season. The Steelers have been able to rotate their raiders in each match which has kept them fresh and allowed them to recover. Rohit Gulia and Meetu were supporting raiders earlier in the season while Ashish and Vinay have been working with Vikash in the last few games. The Steelers known that they will need fresh legs on the mat in the knock out stage.

Improvement in both departments of the game for the Steelers has allowed them to win consistently. They have conducted 295 successful team raids and executed 173 successful team tackles.  They have inflicted 22 all-outs and conceded 20. With a high success rate in tackles, they are able to force the opposition to commit mistakes when Vikash Kandola and company are raiding.

They have a wonderful chance to rake in some points against the struggling Puneri Paltan. The Steelers may have good defenders and raiders but they have not been able to keep a tab on their expenses. This has been their major drawback. Another major concern for the Steelers is that they are not able to maintain the intensity throughout the match. They are very innovative and swift in the first half but run out of ideas in the second as the opposition crushes them easily. Coach Rakesh Kumar will have to inject fuel and inspiration among his wards as mere talent is not enough in this rough world, they have to finish the game and play deep.

Puneri Paltan Preview

Puneri Paltan may not be the top team of the season but they have won a lot of hearts with their never say die attitude. They lost to the Patna Pirates after dominating the first half in their last game. They will play the Haryana Steelers and this will be their second match in 2 days. They are placed 11th in the points table and have very little chance to make it to the next stage. They have been playing with a lot of intensity and self belief. They won 4 consecutive games before going down to the Pirates. Puneri Paltan got their act together quite late in the season. They have the trio of raiders- Nitin Tomar, Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat. They have done well in their raiding but it is their defence which succumbs to pressure time and again.

They lost to the Haryana Steelers last month in a match which they should have won. Puneri Paltan has lost 8 out of their 16 games and most of them have been close matches.

With pride to play for and optimism for a miracle, the Puneri Paltan will need to regroup and play their next game within 24 hours. This will be the first of the triple panga as the season moves towards the knock-out stage. Puneri Paltan will once again depend on raider Aslam Inamdar who score some daring Super raids against the Patna Pirates in the last game.

Defender Sombir was on top of his game against the Pirates and so was Vishal Bharadwaj. But Sanket Sawant and Abhinesh could not complement these efforts.

The Paltan will be up against one of the best defence on the circuit and this will affect their raiding income. Hence they will have to avoid unforced errors and keep the scoring as low as possible.

They play the Titans next after the Steelers, hence a good show against Haryana will keep them fresh for the next game. They won 4 consecutive games before losing to Patna, which means that they can be consistent as well as effective.

Welcome to another entertainer of the season as in form Haryana Steelers take on the Puneri Paltan. The Paltan has been a bit unlucky not to win many matches even though they have played well. They have a good set of raiders in the form of Aslam, Mohit and Nitin Tomar. Aslam was in devastating form against the Pirates as he conducted a couple of daring Super raids. The Paltan has to improve on its defence to compliment its raiders. The Haryana Steelers are surprising everyone with their vibrant style of kabaddi and this has allowed them to intrude in the top 3 in the points table. With a few league matches remaining, the Steelers would like to earn valuable points by beating the Puneri Paltan. The Puneri raiders will have to overcome the tackles of defender Jaideep and Mohit who have been in blazing form off late. The Paltan defence has to be cautious in this game as they cannot commit any unforced errors. This will be a game full of entertainment, high on emotions and comedy of errors too.

Haryana Steelers will win.
