The Haryana Steelers are going from strength to strength as they have won 4 out of their 5 matches. Apart from the loss in their first match, the Steelers look unbeatable at the moment. Haryana were impressive in their last 2 matches as they beat the mighty Puneri Paltan on their home turf, followed by a close match against the Gujarat Giants. In both the games, the Steelers displayed traits synonymous to their name. 

On the other hand, the Telegu Titans are re-experiencing their journey of season 9. They have not been able to win a single match in this season. Hi Flyer Pawan Sehrawat is the lone warrior as the Titans look gullible every time they enter the mat. They need a fresh perspective and strategy. The Telegu Titans seem to be using too many players in one game, Though, Pawan has 4 Super 10’s to his credit in 5 matches, he is not getting the support of other players.

This will be a tough encounter for the Titans as they take on the Haryana Steelers. This could also be a blessing in disguise for them if they are able to beat the best and recharge themselves for the rest of the season.

Haryana Steelers Preview

One of the youngest teams of the PKL is vibrant, aggressive and unpredictable. They looked listless against the UP Yodha in their opening bout as they lost the match by a margin of 30 points. It was as if the Steelers were unprepared to take on the Yodha. But Haryana bounced back sharply as they won their next 4 matches.

They worked overtime to defeat the Puneri Paltan followed by a victory over the Gujarat Giants. This was a fantastic performance by Haryana as they stunned Gujarat very early in the match. Haryana have more of less accepted the fact that Siddharth Desai is a shade of what he was couple of seasons back. Hence they quickly adapted to the raiding pair of Vinay and Prapanjan. This combination has worked for them as Vinay has scored 24 points in the last 2 matches. His high voltage Super 10 against the Puneri Paltan was devastating.  Haryana has also used the services of left raider Shivam Pathare once in a while.

Haryana Steelers are blessed with fantastic raiders. Captain Jaideep Dahiya needs to improve his efficiency as he has executed 12 tackles in 5 matches. But left corner Mohit and right Cover Mohit Nandal have been deadly with 26 successful tackles in 5 matches. This is the strength of the Steelers.

Coach Manpreet will be pleased with his boys. The Steelers have another wonderful opportunity to trounce the Telegu Titans who are woefully out of form. Currently placed 5th in the points table, Haryana can jump to the second spot if they win this match. They have not lost to the Titans since 2019. If the Haryana Steelers are able to keep Pawan Sherawat off the mat, they can win this with a huge margin which will also help them in their score difference. But the Steelers have to be careful as any compliancy may just take them off-roading in this season.

Telugu Titans Preview

The Telegu Titans seem to be like a child lost at the museum. Year after year, they struggle to find the right combination and by the time they stumble upon some form, it’s too late. The Titans have lost all their matches in season 10. With their backs to the wall, they hope to find light at the end of the tunnel. 

Severe defensive lapses resulted in a loss to Dabang Delhi in their last match. Star Pawan Sehrawat is the only player who has been effective. Pawan has 53 raid points in 5 matches which includes 4 Super 10’s which is the highest by any raider in this season. But he seems to be fighting a lone battle. Raider Rajneesh was used in the earlier games but he could not deliver. Hence the Titans have tried using raiders Robin Chaudhary and Praful Zaware. Both have been just above average. This has severely dented the raiding earning of the Titans. 

Apart from the issues in raiding, Telegu Titans have a slippery defense. Their success rate in team tackles in just 30% which is the lowest among all teams. Hence the Titans struggle in every match. Their best defenders have been Iranian Milad Jabbari with 8 successful tackles in 4 matches and right corner Mohit with just 7 successful tackles in 3 matches. The Titans cannot dream of winning a match with such fragile defense. 

What are the options for the Telegu Titans? Unfortunately veteran defenders like Parvesh Bhaishwal and Sandeep Dhull are out of form. Titans should use their all-rounders to improve their defense. S Sanjeevi and Iranian Hamid Nader have to be in the starting 7. Raiders Robin Chaudhary and Praful Zaware have to improve their efficiency so that one of them can become Pawan’s sidekick. 

Though the Titans have won just 3 matches out of 9 against the Haryana Steelers, they can put in a break-through performance for their fans. Pawan Sehrawat needs the support of his team-mates. The Titans need to rethink their strategy too as this will help them win their first game of the season.

Winning Prediction

This could be one way traffic for the Haryana Steelers are they take on the listless Telegu Titans. Fans are hoping against hope for the revival of Telegu Titans. The only saving grace for them is Pawan Sehrawat who will score a Super 10 once again. Raiders Robin and Praful will perform better than the earlier matches. Telegu will use some of its all-rounders instead of their regular defenders. S Sanjeevi will earn in raids as well as in tackles. The Titans will aim to rush through the first half so that they can surprise the Haryana Steelers.

Raiders Vinay will score a Super 10 against the weak Telegu defense. Veteran raider Prapanjan and youngster Shivam Pathare will complement Vinay. Haryana Captain Jaideep will be ruthless against Pawan Sehrawat while right corner Rahul Sethpal and left corner Mohit will hunt down any other Telegu raider who comes within their radar.

The Haryana Steelers will be take the lead by half-time and they will also inflict an all-out early in the match. The Telegu Titans will just hope that the Steelers have a bad day at the office so that they can win their first match of the season for their fans.
