The clash between former champions has always been a spicy affair. But both teams are struggling in the initial phase of the season. Patna Pirates started the season with a bang winning their first 2 matches. But they have lost consecutive matches post a good start. 

The Pink Panthers have been able to win just 1 out of their 4 games. The defending champions are placed 10th in the points table with just 10 points from 4 games. Though these are the initial weeks of the tournament, both the Pirates and the Pink Panthers need to build some momentum. Both teams have immensely talented players, but the match is won tactically using the right combinations.

3 time champions, Patna Pirates are living on the edge. They started the season with emphatic victories in their first 2 games only to lose the next couple of matches. This was exactly their story in season 9. The Pirates have one of the best combinations available but they are dearly missing the services of Iranian Mohammedreza who has shifted to the Puneri Paltan.

The Pirates were conned by U Mumba in their last match as Mumba all-rounders Visvanath and Iranian Zafardanesh set the cat among the pigeons in the dying moments of the match. The Patna Pirates could not exploit the fragile Mumba defense. In addition, their defense could not stop the Mumba raiders. After leading at half-time, the Pirates became complacent in the second half, thus leading to their fall by a margin of 2 points. The Hunter became the hunted.

Currently placed 7th in the points table, the Pirates need to regroup at the earliest. Raiders Sachin Tanwar scored a Super 10 in his last match. He has scored 44 raid points from 34 successful raids. He has been supported by young raider M Sudhakar. Unfortunately their third raider Manjeet has been woefully out of form thus taking away the sting from the Patna attack. The Pirates have used the services of raider Sandeep Kumar but they need to draft veteran Rakesh Kumar if in case Manjeet is out of form.

The Pirates have a major concern with their defense. Apart from defender Krishnan, all the other defenders have been inconsistent. This adds to the pressure which resulted in the Pirates losing consecutive games. Patna has a better record against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. They have beaten the Pink Panthers 10 times out of their 18 matches. But with a fragile defense, the Pirates will find it challenging to rein in the Jaipur raiders, especially Arjun Deshwal.

Jaipur Pink Panthers Preview

The defending champions are at the crossroads this season. The Pink Panthers lost the first game of the season followed by a TIE with the Bengal Warriors. They beat the Gujarat Giants in a tough game. It looked as if Jaipur had brewed a winning combination. But the Pink Panthers lost the momentum as they lost to the Bengaluru Bulls in their next game. Hence with just a victory under their belt, Jaipur finds itself stranded at the 10th spot in the points table. 

Jaipur had a heartbreak against the Bengaluru Bulls. They lost the match after leading at halftime. There was a clear drop in intensity as the Bulls tactically trapped the Pink Panthers. Their raiders could earn just 16 raid points through the match which was matched by their opponents. Left corner Ankush scored a Hi 5 yet Jaipur lost the match by just 2 points.

The Pink Panthers have a decent combination of players. MVP of season 9 Arjun Deshwal has been in good form. He has earned 42 raid points from 29 successful raids in 4 matches. Veteran raider Ajith has contributed nicely but the Pink Panthers lack a good third raider. Rahul Chaudhary does perform ones in a while but he cannot be expected to survive the whole match. Young raider Bhavani Rajput performed brilliantly in a couple of matches but he needs to be consistent as this is a long season.

The major concern for the Pink Panthers is their defense. Left corner Ankush and captain Sunil Kumar have been steady but Iranian Reza Mirbhagheri and Sahul Kumar have not delivered. Both defenders are brilliant players but currently out of form.

Jaipur Pink Panthers have struggled against the Patna Pirates. They have won just 8 out of their 18 encounters with the Pirates. But Jaipur will take inspiration from the fact that U Mumba conned the Pirates in their last match. if the Pink Panthers are able to replicate similar tactics, they could hunt the Pirates at the Balewadi stadium in Pune.

Clash of the defending champions and 3 time Champions Patna Pirates is always a mouthwatering contest. Both teams lost their last match. Patna Pirates were stung by U Mumba in the last game and they will be sulking at this point in the tournament. 

But the Pirates have a dangerous player in the form of raider Sachin Tanwar. He has led the Pirates effectively through the last couple of years. He will score a Super 10 but he will not get enough support from the other raiders. The Patna defense looks fragile as all-rounders Sajin Chanrashekhar and Ankit have struggled. Captain Neeraj Kumar will tackle effectively but overall the Pirates will be prone to concede all-outs especially in the second half.

The Jaipur Pink Panthers too lack momentum but they will surge ahead by halftime. Arjun Deshwal and Bhavani Rajput will score heavily. Left corner Ankush or captain Sunil Kumar will score a Hi 5. Both teams have issues with their raiding as well as their defense. But the Patna Pirates lack intensity in their raiding while the Pink Panthers lack momentum that can last the entire game. This will be an entertaining contest.
