These sides met last year and the Pirates beat the Paltan by 12 points. Since then both sides have had contrasting journey’s in this tournament. While the Patna Pirates have won 7 games out of their 11, Puenri Paltan is coming to terms with the harsh reality of kabaddi. They find themselves at the 11th spot after 11 games. They showed a lot of resilience when they won back-to-back matches, first beating U Mumba and then the defending champions Bengal Warriors. Fans thought that this is the upswing of the Paltan. But then they lost steam and lost the next two games.

Paltan will have a tough time against the Pirates who were conned by Dabang Delhi. The Pirates have developed a wonderful formula in their raiding department as well as their defense. The trio of Monu Goyat, Sachin Tawar, and Prashanth Rai is lethal and even in the absence of Monu Goyat, Ghuman Singh has stepped in.

Patna Pirates will be looking forward to winding up proceedings quickly and moving up to the second spot in the points table. The Paltan has no other option than to keep fighting and expect that they win all their matches and fulfill their dream of qualifying for the playoffs.

Patna Pirates Preview

Former champions have traveled well this season and find themselves at the 3rd spot in the points table after 11 games. They have 40 points and a healthy score difference of 44. They have a formidable combination of raiders and defenders. Though there is a big question mark on the fitness of Monu Goyat, still the Pirates have managed to win consistently. Once in a while, they do go past a few speed breakers but otherwise, they have been one of the most consistent teams.

None of their raiders are in the top 10, they have still managed to win matches. This reflects their team effort whenever they plan a heist.

But they have 2 of their defenders in the top 10 with Mohammedrea and Neeraj Kumar collectively inflicting 59 successful tackles in 11 games.

Captain Prashanth Rai is a DoD specialist who has earned 15 DoD raid points in 11 games.

The Pirates have executed 166 successful raids along with 117 successful team tackles. They have executed 13 Super tackles earning them a total of 130 team tackle points.

This clearly indicates that the Pirates are a well-oiled machine and they are one of the favorites to win the tournament this season. They have also learned to live without Monu Goyat who is recuperating from injuries. The Pirates have got a measure of the Paltan and they would like to make quick work of this game without much effort.

They will have to be careful only about a bad day in the office which might just create a psychological barrier for them.

Puneri Paltan Preview

The Puneri Paltan is moving at a snail’s pace this season. They are not able to catch up with the other teams as they are at the 11th spot in the points table after 11 games. After showing some promise by beating stronger teams like U Mumba and Bengal Warriors, the Paltan is once again gasping for victories.

But there are some positives as well. Raiders Aslam Inamdar and S Vishwas have clearly indicated that they mean business and they are new kids on the block. The major concern of the Paltan has been their scratchy defense and lack of replacement options. Coach Anup Kumar has to play within limitations as Star Rahul Chaudhary has been ineffective this season.

The Paltan has lost 7 games this season and their inability to play in safe mode and generate a Tie in some matches has hurt them.

They have conceded 382 points in 11 games and their earnings have been the lowest among all the teams. They have earned 198 raid points only which has hurt them further.

They are up against stronger teams and they can redeem themselves only by winning all the remaining games which is a tough ask.

Defenders Abhinesh, Sanket Sawant and Sombir have played well but veteran left corner Vishal Bharadwaj has failed to impress. The Paltan does not have an immediate replacement for Vishal. Though the Paltan has done well in times of distress as they have a good DoD record. They have earned 38 DoD raid points and they can use this as a strategy against the Pirates.

This will be the toughest match for the Puneri Paltan as they take on the in-form Patna Pirates. Puneri Paltan will have to think out of the box in order to confuse the Pirates. Aslam Inamdar, Vishwas, and Pankaj Mohite combine well in raiding but the fate of the Paltan depends on how their defenders perform. It will be tough to trap Sachin Tanwar and Ghuman Singh if incase Monu Goyat does not play. Patna Pirates will be looking forward to a big win so that it helps their score difference too. Raider Ghuman Singh has been impressive while the Pirate defense looks super strong. They don’t like raiders coming and looting their treasure. Right corner Shubham Shinde has done well too but it will have to be seen if defender Sajin is fully fit as he was injured in the last game.

The Patna Pirates have an upper hand in this match, but you never know what may happen on the mat.

Patna Pirates will win.
