Post those victories they looked unbeatable. But a long season is taking a toll on them as they lost to U Mumba by a huge margin. They are placed 6th in the points table and need to win every game from here.

They take on the Tamil Thalaiva who beat them early in the season. The Pirates lost to Mumba as they were completely constricted by the Mumba defense. This affected their raid earnings and Patna lost the match. This is a major weakness of the Pirates that has been exposed. The Patna Pirates are totally dependent on raiders Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia. They don’t have much of a backup in this department.

The Pirates have executed 189 successful team raids out of their total 553 team raids.

Raiders Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia have earned 202 raid points in 13 games.

The Tamil Thalaiva has been impressive and inspiring. Without Pawan Sehrawat they have displayed grit, courage, and character. Though they are currently placed 10th in the points table, they have commanded respect from their opponents. They have competed with the best and made their opponents work hard.  

After a winning spree, the Thalaiva seems to have hit a speed breaker. They lost back-to-back games which have pushed them downwards in the points table. They lost to the Puneri Paltan and then to the Bengaluru Bulls. Both matches went down the wire where the Thalaiva pushed their opponents to the limit.

The Thalaiva should have won the game against the Paltan as they were tactically superior. They dried off the raid earnings of the Paltan and almost completed the heist before losing the match in the last raid. Similarly, they played well against the Bengaluru Bulls in their next game which they lost by a margin of 6 points.

The Thalaiva has some inspirational and talented youngsters. Raider Narender has earned 134 raid points in his 107 successful raids. 

Captain Sagar has scored 32 successful tackles in 13 games while defenders Sahil Gulia and M Abhisek have executed 54 successful tackles within them.

This makes the Thalaiva a dangerous squad. Unfortunately, they miss someone who can deliver the knock-out punch. 

The Thalaiva has executed 12 Super tackles as a team along with 7 Super raids. 

Unfortunately, they have conceded 21 all-outs in 13 games while inflicting just 14. This has been the dark spot for them this season. If Thalaiva can improve on this number, they can beat the best in the business. They had beaten the Patan Pirates in a close match very early in the season and would like to repeat the feat.

Winning Prediction

Welcome to the last few games at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune. The caravan will move to Hyderabad. But the Thalaiva has a wonderful opportunity to win a game here. 

Raider Narender will once again score a Super 10 to keep the hopes alive for the Thalaiva. They will dominate the first half with Captain Sagar targeting either Patna raider Sachin or Rohit Gulia. The Tamil defense will be stingy and they will trouble the Pirates. This will help the Thalaiva dominate the proceedings.

The Patna Pirates will depend on Sachin Tanwar to score big. He will earn but not a very big Super 10. Defenders Sunil Kumar and Mohammedreza will trap Tamil raider Narender but they won’t be able to stop him from a Super 10. 

This will be a contest between who will score the least unforced errors. Tamil Thalaiva will have to maintain their intensity throughout the match else the Pirates will loot them and take the match away right under their nose.
