The Patna Pirates became the first team of the season to qualify for the next stage. They have earned 70 points from 18 games and look very comfortable at the top of the table. They have had their struggle through the season, first with Covid and then a slight dip in form. But they came back every time they were pushed down on the mat. Their mantra for success is engraved in their team combination, a perfect balance for raiders and defenders. Though Monu Goyat is not full fit, yet they have terrific bench strength for all contingencies. Life for the Telegu Titans has gone from bad to worse. They started off quite well but they always took the lane which led to a dead end. Languishing at the bottom of the table almost throughout the season, the Titans have pride to play for. After playing 19 games they have managed to win just 1 match. As they take on the Pirates, they will try and give their bench some mat time. They will expect raiders Rajneesh and Ankit Beniwal to earn well so that they can make the Pirates sweat for every point. Looks like one way traffic, but this season has still a lot of surprise in store of us.

Patna Pirates Preview

The Pirates have been the epitome of class and team balance in this season. They started off with a few hiccups but then settled into a beautiful rhythm. They have already qualified for the next stage due to their victories and now have an opportunity to warm up for the knock-outs. They have been successful due to their consistency, both in raiding as well as defence. They have groomed young raiders like Ghuman Singh who spearheads the pack quite often. Sachin Tanwar has been a livewire while Prashanth Rai brings in the calmness whenever required. Defenders like left corner Mohamedreza and Neeraj Kumar have been overtly efficient which has helped the Pirates hunt down opposition raiders at will.

Mohammedreza and Neeraj Kumar have executed 104 successful tackles between them and this adds to the Pirate sting. Defenders Sajin and Sunil have given exceptional support too. This has helped the Pirates win most of their games. They have won their last 5 games which prove that they are on a dream run. They beat the Puneri Paltan by 17 points to maintain their dominance. Very few teams have such a balanced squad.

They beat the Telegu Titans by 1 point when they clashed earlier and the Pirates will be hoping that they don’t have a close shave this time. The Pirates have executed 290 successful team raids while conducting 200 successful team tackles which is the highest among all teams. This has allowed them to earn 214 tackle points which is also the highest. The strength of their team lies in togetherness. They will just hope that star raider Monu Goyat is fit so that he too can enjoy the success of his team and teammates.

Telugu Titans Preview

The Titans have no option other than playing some good kabaddi and continue fighting every time they enter the arena. This has been a forgetful season for them. Their worst nightmares have come true in this tournament as they have won just 1 out of their 19 games. They have been unlucky on occasions but nothing went right for them at all. They have struggled throughout the season with losses piling on them. With no chance of making it anywhere in the tournament, the Titans have to play for pride and for their fans. They lost top players early in the season and that set them back light years in comparison to other teams.

Raiders like Ankit Beniwal, Rajneesh and T Adarsh have kept their flag flying high with some inspirational performances but this has not changed their destiny. They take on one of the best and toughest side of the tournament. This will be another challenge for them as they will have to fight in order to save themselves another hammering. But they need to take inspiration from the fact that they have played good kabaddi. Though their unforced errors far outnumber their good deeds, they will still try and create an upset.

They have conceded 719 points in this season which includes 28 all-outs. These are the highest among all teams in both categories. They need to forget the past and compete without any baggage in the last few games. They may not be able to change their destiny, but they may certainly make the Pirates sweat for every point. You never know, they may just upset the Pirates who are gunning for their 4 title!!!

Life on the mat can be very exhausting and demanding. Telegu Titans know it better than any other team. A team which has won just 1 out of the 19 games it has played will take on the Pirates who have already qualified for the next stage. The Titans will play for pride and for some lucky consolation. Beating the top side in the tournament will be a feature in their cap which has lot of holes in it. The Titans will depend on raiders Rajneesh and Ankit Beniwal for a good harvest. Their defenders need to be very sharp in order to trap Sachin Tanwar and Ghuman Singh. Raiders like Adarsh and Galla Raju will have to avoid the left corner as Mohemadreza is in blazing form. The Patna Pirates will look forward for another victory to consolidate their position as they have already qualified for the knock-outs. The Titans will take inspiration from the fact that they lost to Patna Pirates by just 1 point when they met earlier in the season. But tides and times have changed for both teams, albeit with a 180 degree phase shift.

Patna Pirates will win.
