The upcoming contest will be between the defending champions who could never kick start their defence this season and another team which was high on expectations after getting top players in the auction but they never performed.

Sad but true. Bengal Warriors were expected to play with belief. After 7 matches they find themselves in the 8th position with just 17 points and a score difference of -25. They lost to Haryana Steelers in the last match, once again due to a slippery defence. They are heavily dependent on Maninder and Nabibaksh as the other team members are not able to rise to the occasion.

Pune on the other hand never got going in this tournament. At the 11th spot in the points table they have the highest negative score difference this season. They seem to be working hard but their income is not enough to support the family. They are not able to punch above their weight and neither play safe.

It will be very difficult for them to overcome the warriors in this encounter.

Puneri Paltan Preview

Puneri Paltan used to be a strong team in the earlier seasons. But inconsistencies have marred their journey throughout the leagues over the years. Expect finishing third in the 3rd edition of Pro Kabaddi, they haven't had any significant achievement. The story continues this season too. In the absence of Rahul Chaudhary, young guns have to work hard with captain Vishal Bharadwaj who himself is also not in the best of form.

In their last match against the Jaipur Pink Panters, they played well, worked hard, all the players contributed but still they could not win.

They have conceded 245 points in 7 games. Quite high but incidentally lower than the Bengal Warriors.

They have conceded the highest number of all outs this season among all the teams- 13.

Raiders Nitin Tomar, Aslam Inamdar, Pankaj Mohite and Mohit Goyat have been doing their job but the defence has been very slippery. Left corner Vishal Bharadwaj and right corner Baldev Singh will have to perform or make way for others.

In such a scenario, Bengal Warriors will be too hot to handle for the Puneri Paltan.

Bengal Warriors Preview

The defending champions are still searching for their X factor this season. They are reeling at the 8th spot struggling in every match. If the keep playing this way, they may not even make it to the play off’s.

Maninder Singh is the only consistent performer for the Warriors with Iranian Nabibaksh contributing in few matches. One of the biggest concerns for the Bengal Warriors is the lack of the 2nd and 3rd raiding option. Sukesh Hegde could not fit in that role and that is the reason all the burden falls on Maninder who has been their one man army.

He has earned 86 raid points from 66 successful raids.

But Warriors have conceded the highest number of points this season, which is due to their porous defence. Defenders Darshan, Amit Narwal and Iranian Abozar Mighani have not been able to perform consistently. Left corner Sachin Vittala did very well in his last match but individual performances may not heal the Warriors anymore.

Only 5 super tackles in 7 matches,

6 Super raids, 9 all outs inflicted but conceded 10.

These are some of the areas that the Warriors will need to work on urgently else they may miss the bus for the play-off’s.

This is a golden opportunity for the Bengal Warriors to get back in shape as they take on the Puneri Paltan. Maninder, Nabibaksh and Sachin Vittala are in form. Others need to play simple kabaddi and earn well, satiate their hunger.

Puneri Paltan have a huge mountain to climb, but they do not have enough time neither the gear to scale the summit. But nothing is impossible when you are on the mat. The return of Nitin Tomar will give them the boost, while young guns Aslam and Pankaj Mohite can create panic in the Warriors camp.

This should be a high scoring match as the defence of both teams believe in gifting points. But Pune have to be careful of the one man army- Maninder Singh.

Bengal Warriors will beat the Puneri Paltan.
