Puneri Paltan lost their first match on home turf to the Haryana Steelers. This came as a big shock to their fans who were expecting the Paltan to stream roll through the Steelers. The Paltan missed out on the killer punch as none of their raiders could score a Super 10. Captain Aslam scored 9 points while Mohit Goyat scored 8 raid points thus completing his 300 raids points of PKL.

The Bengal Warriors are sitting comfortably at the summit with 18 points from 4 matches. They are the only team in the league which has not lost a single match. The Warriors have won 3 games while they settled for a TIE in one of the matches. Captain Maninder is in hot form while their defenders have been precise and deadly. The Bengal Warriors smashed 60 points against the Patna Pirates in their last match.

This encounter will be a big test for both the teams. The Bengal Warriors will hope to continue the momentum while the Puneri Paltan have to recover quickly from the heartbreak of their last match.

Puneri Paltan Preview

These are early days for the Puneri Paltan as they aim to win the title after coming close last season. The Paltan started their campaign with a couple of victories before falling prey to the Haryana Steelers on home turf. Puneri were leading at half-time. They suddenly lost intensity after a big raid from Haryana raider Vinay never to recover.

The Paltan also got caught up in the trap set by the Steelers where none of their raiders could score a Super 10. That was the difference in the end as the Paltan lost the match by a margin of 5 points. Captain Aslam Inamdar scored 9 points while Mohit Goyat could gather just 8 tackle points. Raider Akash Shinde was drafted midway instead of Pankaj Mohite. Akash scored 5 raid points.

Puneri Paltan were stung by some quick raiding from the Steelers. Their defenders scored 11 tackle points in the match but most of them either were kept out for long duration or they were enticed into making unforced errors. This will be the main area where the Puneri Paltan has to improve as they take on the former champions.

Overall the Paltan has one of the most balanced squads among all teams. Raiders Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Pankaj Mohite are supported by Akash Shinde and R Nitin. Defenders Abhinesh, Sanket Sawant and Gaurav Khatri are the best in the business. Left corner Mohammedreza has added sting to their already strong defense.

The Puneri Paltan needs to be tactically proactive in their next few matches. The Bengal Warriors recently hammered the Patna Pirates by scoring 60 points. The Paltan will be wary of this as they have to control the “Big show” Maninder Singh.

The Paltan has won 9 out of their 18 encounters and they beat the Warriors twice last year. Puneri boys need to win on their home turf to give their fans some reason to cheer.

Bengal Warriors Preview

One of the best teams of the season, former champions Bengal Warriors travel to Pune to take on the home team. The Warriors are on top of the points table after playing 4 matches. Captain Maninder Singh has been brilliant with his raiding. He has earned 45 raid points from 34 successful raids which includes 3 Super 10’s.

Right corner Shubham Shinde has been deadly with 17 successful tackles in 4 matches. Overall the Bengal Warriors have executed 41 successful tackles which makes them invincible. They have a success rate of 46% in team raids courtesy Maninder Singh. Along with the captain raiders Srikant Jadhav and Nitin Kumar have surprised everyone with their skills. Nitin scored 14 points against the Patna Pirates in the last match in which the Bengal Warriors scored 60 points.

Except for the Tied match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, the Bengal Warriors have scored heavily against all opponents. This is one of their major tactics as they set the cat among the pigeons very early in the match. Fortunately their defense has resonated and they are not dependent on any one player. Apart from Shubham Shinde, defenders Darpan, S Aditya and right cover Vaibhav Garje have all contributed in 4 matches.

The Bengal Warriors is a complete package in terms of their players. Their defenders have executed 2 Super tackles while inflicting 8 all-outs. Their raiders have executed 5 Super raids too. All this is done very quickly by the Warriors. The big question will be, can they do this against the Puneri Paltan.

The Bengal Warriors have not beaten the Paltan since season 8. Twice they lost to the Paltan last year. But season 10 belongs to the Warriors as they have not lost a game yet. This will be one of the most entertaining encounters of the season as this will be a face-off between the Puneri raiders and Bengal defender Shubham Shinde apart from a clash between Mighty Maninder and Puneri all-rounder Mohammedreza.

Welcome to one of the most exciting encounters of the season as the Puneri Paltan takes on Bengal Warriors in front of their fans at Pune. The Bengal Warriors have got a stable combination in raiding as well as defense. It is next to impossible to stop Maninder Singh apart from youngster Nitin. The trio of Bengal raiders will score over 25 raid points in the match. Defender Shubham Shinde will target Aslam Inamdar early in the first half. Bengal Warriors may lead by half-time but they will lose intensity towards the end of the match.

The Puneri Paltan will recover from the loss to the Haryana Steelers. 2 out of their 3 raiders will score a Super 10. Left corner Mohammedreza and defender Abhinesh will target Maninder Singh. If the Paltan is able to keep Maninder off the mat for long duration, they will win half the battle.

But the second half will be full of fireworks as one of the teams will attack relentlessly. Both teams will commit unforced errors thus resulting in high scores. This may the first match of the season where the Bengal Warriors lose focus against the home team.

Puneri Paltan will win.
