While the table toppers, Puneri Paltan have been on a 5-match winning spree, the Gujarat Fortune Giants have been at the opposite end of the spectrum. The Puneri Paltan has surged beyond expectations this season. They were slow to take off but their cryogenic effort has taken them ahead of all other teams. They seem to be the most superior in teamwork, attack, defense, and tactics. They have also maintained a good level of fitness as none of their players have suffered any major injury. Fatigue will be natural in such a long season, but the Paltan has maintained consistency. They have also given good match time to most of their bench.

The Paltan is at the top of the points table and has performed slightly better than their closest rivals, Bengaluru Bulls and the Jaipur Pink Panthers. A young group of raiders has helped them earn well while the defense under Captain Fazel Attrachali has been lethal and precise. 

The Paltan has executed 306 successful team raids along with 174 successful team tackles. 

They have inflicted 28 all-outs in 18 matches while conceding just 16.

Puneri Paltan has also earned 66 Do-or-Die raid points which proves that they have used the Dod trap successfully.

They had a tough time against the Bengaluru Bulls and the Jaipur Pink Panthers, but on both occasions, they managed to hold their nerve and win the match. They beat the Bulls by just 2 points while they overpowered the Pink Panthers by 7 points. 

Fazel Attrachali, Sombir, and Abhinesh have been the stars in the defense. Left cover Sakent Sawant has assisted quite well making this Puneri defense almost impregnable. They have also tried the services of defenders like Badal Singh and Gaurav Khatri. 

The Puneri Paltan will clash with the Gujarat Fortune Giants who have been completely out of sorts this season. But the Paltan had lost to them earlier in the season. This will be a great chance for the Paltan to get even as well as increase the distance between themselves and others in the points table.

It was a rags-to-riches story for the Gujarat Fortune Giants in their inaugural season, but since the last season, they seem to have lost their creativity. Season 9 was no different for them as they are currently placed 11th in the points table after playing 17 matches. 

They never looked dangerous throughout the season as they are left playing for pride. But whenever they have worked as a team, they have troubled the best in the business. But the Fortune Giants have not been able to operate at maximum efficiency. They seem to be vibrant in their raids but their defense has been brittle. Time and again they have given away points as their defense has not been precise and lethal.

Another issue with the Fortune Giants was that they stuck to the same strategy throughout the season without adjusting to their opponents. They are very good at slowing down the game and gambling on the Do-or-Die raids. But this backfired on them as most of their opponents caught them off-guard thus leading to their heavy losses.

The Fortune Giants have been able to execute just 121 successful team tackles in 17 games which is the lowest among all the teams.

They have conceded 659 team points as well as 25 all-outs. Their average tackle success rate is less than 30% and the lowest among all the teams.

While their defense never looked dangerous, raider Prateek Dahiya has seized the opportunity this season to display his raiding skills. He was out for a couple of games due to injury but managed to earn 113 raid points in 14 matches. This includes 7 Super 10’s. Along with raiders Rakesh and Captain Chandran Ranjit, he has kept the Gujarat flag flying high even during massive defeats. 

The Fortune Giants can take some inspiration from the fact that they beat the Puneri Paltan earlier in the season and have a better overall record against them. The Fortune Giants have won 7 out of their 11 encounters with the Paltan. This can be one of the party-spoiling moments for them.

Winning Prediction

The Gujarat Fortune Giants will play for pride as they take on the table toppers. The Giants never woke up as they are languishing at the 11th spot in the points table. 

Raider Prateek Dahiya will lead the attack along with Rakesh and Chandran Ranjit. The Fortune Giants will earn well but their defense may not be able to sustain the relentless attacks from the Paltan. Defenders Rinku and Baldev Singh will leak points. The Fortune Giants will start very slowly and may concede an all-out in the first 10 minutes of the match.

Puneri Paltan will unleash their trio of raiders, Aslam, Mohit Goyat, and Akash Shinde. Akash has just completed 100 PKL raid points and he will create problems for the Gujarat defense. Fazel Attrachali and Sombir will hunt Chandran Ranjit and Rakesh. But they will find it difficult to rein in Gujarat raider Prateek Dahiya.
