The Powerful Puneri Paltan get ready to clash with the “Idhu Namma” Tamil Thalaiva in the second semi-finals of season 9. It has been an eventful journey for both teams. The Puneri Paltan have been in the best shape in season 9. Never before in their PKL journey, did the Paltan look so dangerous. They booked their spot directly in the semi-finals as they finished 2nd in the points table.

The Tamil Thalaiva struggled all their way through the season but they managed to beat top teams on their way to the eliminators. They played one of the greatest matches in the history of PKL when they beat the UP Yodha in the tiebreaker. Looks like the Thalaiva has evolved into gold after all the smelting they went through.

The Puneri Paltan has been an efficient and ruthless group. They have forged wonderful partnerships in their raiding as well as their defense. The Paltan is an animated and exciting unit. But the Thalaiva is on a mission. The manner in which they have bounced back can send chills down the spine of the Paltan. But can the Thalaiva play another bluff to con the Puneri Paltan?

Puneri Paltan Preview

One of the best units of season 9, the Puneri Paltan learned quickly and adapted to the needs of the game. They had some early hiccups but improved on their digestive system as they tore apart some of the best in the business. The emotional bonding between players and their amazing effervescence has been the mantra of their success.

The Puneri Paltan finished 2nd in the points table after winning 14 out of their 22 matches. They also settled for 2 tied matches in the season. The Paltan has a balanced attack with young raiders and an experienced group of defenders led by “Sultan” Fazel Attrachali. Fazel knows the taste of winning the finals as he was part of the title-winning U Mumba squad. He will try and induce that feeling among young players like Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar. S

On their way to the semi-finals, the Puneri Paltan conducted 385 successful team raids along with 215 successful team tackles. They have also inflicted 36 all-outs in the season.

Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat have been their main raiders while the Paltan has also used the services of raiders Akash Shinde and Pankaj Mohite. All-rounder Nabibaksh has also contributed to some of the games.

But their biggest asset is the presence of Fazel Attrachali in the left corner. The best raider in the history of PKL, Fazel has marshaled his troops effectively. He has been supported nicely by defenders Abhinesh and Sombir. Hence it will be a challenge for the Thalaiva to loot points from the Puneri den.

Interestingly the Thalaiva has always been a tough opponent for the Paltan. They lost their first league match to the Thalaiva by just 1 point. The Paltan won their next contest by a margin of just 1 point. Hence it will be another epic battle between these 2 teams. Both teams have never won the title, hence they will go all out in this semi-final contest.

Tamil Thalaivas Preview

The Tamil Thalaiva has been the real gambler of the season. They went through testing times throughout the season but they also punched above their weight. They had 3 major hiccups in the league stage, viz Pawan Sehrawat getting injured in the first match, their coach quitting mid-way, and finally, Captain Sagar falling to injury. Still, the young raiders of Tamil Thalaiva have kept the torch burning and gifted some happy moments to their fans.

Stand-in Captain Ajinkya Pawar and Narender have been the main reason for their revival. Narender has been sensational with his raiding as he earned 232 raid points in 22 matches. The way in which Ajinkya Pawar bundled out the Telegu Titans twice in a multi-point raid has become a legend. The Thalaiva has smelted success out of their struggle.

They had a tough time against the UP Yodha in the eliminator. It was an epic battle that ended in a TIE at the end of 40 minutes with both teams stranded at 36 points. The Thalaiva led by 2 points at half-time. It was a close battle as the Thalaiva lost control in the last 2 minutes of the match as Pardeep Narwal scored an all-out to equalize. Looked like the Thalaiva had gone for a toss. But they tactically delivered an empty raid in the last 30 seconds to take the match into the breaker.

With both teams having 5 raids similar to a penalty shootout in football, this match was a humdinger. It was defender Mohit who executed the biggest heist by blocking Pardeep Narwal. But it was raider Narender who went ahead with the ankle hold on Pardeep who was blocked by left cover Mohit and that changed the flow of the game as the Thalaiva won the breaker to enter into the semi-finals.

But the Thalaiva have to overcome fatigue as they clash with the Paltan. The Thalaiva has a great record against the Puneri Paltan and it has been their defense that has overpowered the Paltan raiders on various occasions.

The Thalaiva will have to punch above their weight once again to enter the finals and fulfill their long-cherished dream of winning the title.

Welcome to the second semi-final which promises to be another epic battle. In the Yellow corner, we have the Tamil Thalaiva oozing with confidence as they fight against all odds to achieve their dream. In the orange corner, we have the Puneri Paltan who have been lethal and entertaining. Both teams will rewrite their destiny in this encounter.

The Tamil Thalaiva will depend on raiders Narender and Ajinky Pawar. Both will be dangerous as one of them will score a Super 10. Defenders Sahil Gulia and Mohit will execute some crucial tackles in the first half to keep a check on the Paltan. The Thalaiva will slow down the pace as they will not allow the Puneri raiders to earn easily.

The Paltan will be aggressive from their first raid as they will unleash Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat. They will have contingency plans if this does not work. Fazel Attrachali and Sombir will target Thalaiva raider Narender and reduce his income. But it will come down to the last raid of the match as both teams will fight tooth and nail for a spot in the finals.

Puneri Paltan will win.
