The stage is set for the next round as the Puneri Paltan take on the Telegu Titans. The Paltan has gone through a tough phase in the last week as they had to settle for a TIE in back to back games. Though this will not stop them from moving into the play-off, but it has certainly tested their resolve. They need to remain in the top 2 so that the Paltan can get easy access to the finals. One of the best team of season 10, the Puneri Paltan has had a tough week. Though it has lost just 1 out of its last 5 games, it has been able to win 2 out of those. They were forced to TIE against the U Mumba followed by another TIE against the Patna Pirates. The Paltan was surprised to see U Mumba attack them very early in that match. Pune fought back to salvage the match but had to play safe. Against the Patna Pirates, the Paltan led till half-time. But a crucial all-out conceded late in the second half forced them to rethink their strategy. Once again the Paltan was realistic as they decided to share the points. This cannot be called a “breakdown” but looks like the other teams have been able to decode the Paltan. Hence this encounter for the Puneri Paltan is a blessing in disguise. 

The Puneri Paltan needs to maintain this momentum so that they can cement their position at the top of the points table. Puneri Paltan has brewed the best recipe for the season by any team. They have a fantastic trio of raiders while their defense is super strong.

 As a team they have executed the highest number of all-outs in 15 matches. 

Their efficiency in team raids is about 39% while their success rate in team tackles is 57% which is the highest among all teams. 

Their best move in this season has been in the inclusion of Iranian all-rounder Mohammedreza. Along with him, all the other defenders have built an impregnable wall which has seldom been breached. 

Defenders Abhinesh has been impressive apart from Sanket Sawant and Gaurav Khatri. Mohammedreza scored a Hi 5 in the last match and his partnership with left corner Gaurav Khatri has been lethal. As the Puneri Paltan takes on the Telegu Titans, they will aim for another point-fest. Pune has won 12 out of their 19 matches with the Telegu Titans. Pune has the ability to score big and quickly. Telugu Titans Preview

Telegu Titans is one of the most popular but unsuccessful teams of PKL. Their fan following is tremendous but that has never converted into on-field success. Season 10 has panned out just like last year and the Titans have not been able to kick-start their campaign. The only feature in their cap this season was when they defeated the Haryana Steelers. They lost their first 5 matches before this victory. It looked as if the Titans may just become crusaders of season 10. But they continued to play some lethargic kabaddi without much of team work.

The Titans lost to the Tamil Thalaiva in their last match. It was a spirited performance but the Telegu Titans. Pawan Sehrawat scored 10 points while left cover Ajith Pawar was at his best with 7 tackle points. The Telegu defense displayed grit and vitality as they earned 10 tackle points in the match. But the support raiders could not earn enough to complement Pawan Sehrawat. As usual, the Titans conceded 3 all-outs in the match as the Thalaiva hammered them by a margin of 25 points. 

Telegu Titans are totally dependent on their captain Pawan Sehrawat. He has earned 142 raid points in 110 successful raids which includes 10 Super 10’s. 

With such a talismanic captain, one would expect the Titans to flourish. But instead they kept on losing most of their matches. They have not been able to forge decent combinations. Titans have some good players in their squad, but they don’t have the creativity to use their resources properly. 

Veteran defender Parvesh Bhainswal was in good form for the national team at the Asian Games. But he could not replicate the same for his franchisee. It is surprising to see the Titans not using all-rounder S Sanjeevi often. He displayed some surprising moves in the first few matches only to be benched. Telegu Titans have won 6 out of their 19 encounters with the Puneri Paltan. Though they have not defeated them since season 6. This will be the most difficult match for the Titans as they are staring at another hammering from the top team of the season.

Welcome to match number 97 in season 10 as the Puneri Paltan take on the Telegu Titans at Patna. The Paltan needs a big win to elevate their mood as they had to share points in their last couple of matches. Raider Aslam, Pankaj Mohite and Mohit Goyat will be ready to exploit the fragile Titans. At least 2 of them will score a Super 10. The Puneri defenders will have a ball at the expense of the Telegu raiders. They will target Pawan Sehrawat but he will be difficult to trap in the first half. Pune will take a huge lead by half-time.
