Welcome to the final day of the league stage as the 6 qualifiers have already been decided. The runners-up of season 9 will be up against the UP Yodha. This will be the final chance for the Paltan to rejig themselves for the eliminators and fulfill their dream of reaching to the finals yet again. The Yodha will be happy to enter the arena for the last time. They had a forgetful season as they could win just 4 out of their 21 matches. Pardeep Narwal and company will be disappointed with their performance this year.

The Paltan continues its aggressive style as they thrashed the Haryana Steelers in a high scoring match. The match witnessed 87 team points as the Paltan itself scored 51 out of them. Raider Mohit Goyat scored 12 points while left corner Mohammedreza earned 6 tackle points. Once again the Puenri teamwork was on display. The UP Yodha gave a tough fight to the Gujarat Giants in their last match. Though they lost by 6 points, UP would be happy with the performance of young raider Gagana Gowda who scored 9 raid points while defender Hitesh scored 7 tackle points. UP will expect their youngsters to punch above their weight as they enter the arena for the last time this season against the mighty Puneri Paltan.

Puneri Paltan Preview

Puneri Paltan is playing like “Mad max”. They have won 16 out of their 21 matches as they comfortably qualified for the next round. Except for the 2 matches they lost, each victory has been a sensational one. Teamwork is their mantra for success and they have seldom failed in this endeavor. Whenever they dominate, Pune does not sympathize with its opponents. The Paltan has the best score difference in the points table as they believe in heavy duty scoring. They are the only team with the maximum number of half-century scores. This will be the last league match for the Puneri Paltan as they take on the UP Yodha.

Pune defeated the Haryana Steelers in their last match. Raider Mohit Goyat was on song as he scored a Super 10. But the Puneri defense was spicy as ever as they earned 23 tackle points in the match. This is their biggest strength. Left corner Mohammedreza scored 6 tackle points while Iranian defender Vahid added another 4 tackle points. Pune inflicted 3 all-outs on Haryana which took them past the 50 point mark. The bigger question for all the other teams is, how to escape this thrashing from the Puneri Paltan? Do they have any antidote?

The Paltan’s success rate in team raids may have come down a bit to 38%, their efficiency in team tackles is about 56%. These are unbelievable statistics for any team. Pune is on top in both these sections. They have inflicted 41 all-outs in just 21 matches while conceding just 12 which is the lowest among all teams.

Puneri Paltan does not have any of its raiders in the top 10. But their collective effort is enough for the team to fly past any opposition. Mohammedreza has executed 85 successful tackles in the tournament while defenders Abhinesh and Gaurav Khatri have collectively executed 110 tackles in 21 matches.

But has Pune peaked too early in the tournament? Can they continue this hot form till the play-off? They will be up against the struggling UP Yodha. Pune has won just 5 out of its 11 encounters with the Yodha. But last year, the Yodha did beat the Paltan in one of the league matches. But season 10 truly belongs to the Paltan. They seem to be doing nothing wrong on the mat. It will be a “Mission Impossible” for any team to stop the Puneri Paltan.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

The UP Yodha has disappointed its fan in season 10. With such a wonderful bunch of players in their squad, they seem to be in a different mood all together in this season. UP Yodha could win just 4 out of its 21 encounters. The Yodha has not just under-performed but they have been wayward. They had the legend Pardeep Narwal along with partner Surender Gill.

But Pardeep could not take his game to another level as he was decoded while Surender Gill was not available in the second half of the tournament due to injuries. This took the Yodha down the slippery path. It was also surprising to see the Yodha not making proactive changes in such situations. They had the services of youngsters like Mahipal, Gulveer and Nitin Panwar. It would have been prudent for UP to use the youngsters when their ship started sinking.

UP Yodha did show some courage and tenacity mid-season but it did not last long. They lost to the Gujarat Giants in their last match by a margin of 6 points. Young raider Gagana Gowda was impressive with 9 raid points while defender Hitesh hunted precisely to earn 7 tackle points. But the rest of the members could not contribute. UP Yodha maintained the momentum till half-time but the last 20 minutes of the match were quite silly as the Yodha conceded 2 all-outs. They gave away the advantage to the Gujarat Giants who did not allow the Yodha to counter attack.

The Yodha has some wonderful statistics to their credit. They have a success rate of 34% in team raids while their efficiency in team tackles went down from 41% to about 36%. Defense was their strength but UP could not maintain the intensity through the long season. UP Yodha has gone through a brain-fade in almost each match.

They will be up against the marauding Puneri Paltan who have thrashed every team they have faced. Even though individual UP players are in form, they may not survive the Puneri onslaught. Will the UP Yodha succumb to another bashing in their last match of season 10?

Welcome to the penultimate league match of season 10 as the Puneri Paltan takes on the UP Yodha. Pune has been relentless and dominant in this season. They thrashed the Haryana Steelers in their last match. Pune will continue with its young raiders as Captain Aslam Inamdar will get a break. Raiders Mohit Goyat and Akash Shinde will trouble the UP defense. At least 2 Puneri raiders will score a Super 10. Left corner Mohammedreza and Abhinesh will be ruthless. The Puneri defense will be spicy and they will inflict at least 2 all-outs on UP.

The Yodha will use some of its young players as this is their last outing of this season. Gagana Gowda will be impressive with this raiding while Mahipal and defender Hitesh will give a tough time to the Puneri raiders. UP Yodha may impress in the first half, but they will lose intensity in the last 20 minutes. This will be a good experience for the young UP players.

Puneri Paltan will win.
