Tamil Thalaivas Preview

The Tamil Thalaivas are playing very intelligently as they have realized their strengths and weaknesses. They follow a defence heavy strategy and it has worked for them. Their main strength has been defenders Sagar and Captain Surjeet who are the top 2 defenders of the season. Both have a combined score of 74 tackle points between them. Both have 6 High 5's between them. They have been efficient as well as physically fit.

Because of the defence heavy strategy they have earned the lowest raid points among all teams- 180 in 10 games while they have conceded 321 points.

They have inflicted 14 all outs and conceded 14 too.

Another problem for the Thalaivas is the fitness of raider Pranpanjan who badly injured his wrist in the last game. He may not be able to take the field against the Fortune Giants.

But they have raider Manjeet who has emerged as their raiding spearhead. Manjeet has earned 72 points from 9 games. He has good support from Ajinkya Pawar who is a DoD specialist with 21 DoD raid points this season. Bhavani Rajput and MS Athul provide the necessary raiding support too. Thalaivas have been intelligent in forcing Ties rather than lose, but they will look forward to win by a huge margin against the Fortune Giants.

They say Fortune favours the brave but not the emotionally charged ones. Fortune Giants have under-performed and have themselves to blame for the misfortune this season. They are languishing at the 10th spot after 10 games with just 23 points. Their entire journey this season they have looked out of sorts and never packed a punch. They have not adapted to new ways, they still expect that their old tricks will earn them victories and they have been emotionally charged most of the times as they have not been able to win games.

They have a talented bunch of players but they need to resonate. They were in a commanding position against their traditional rivals U Mumba in their last match but could not maintain the grip and had to settle for a TIE.

They will take the Thalaiva's head on and this will be another uphill task for them. They will have to counter the deadly tackles of Surjeet and Sagar.

The Fortune Giants have done well in their raiding department with Rakesh Narwal, Rakesh and Ajay performing consistently. But it is their defence which has let them down time and again. Hawk Ravinder Pahal who is among the top 3 all time defenders in PKL is out of contention due to his inconsistent performance. The deadly combo of Sunil-Parvesh is no longer lethal and the Fortune Giants continue their silly unforced errors.
