This has been a season of surprises, entertainment and young players. Both the teams have youngsters performing consistently and are peaking at the right time. The tides have changed as the season has progressed. While the Thalaivas were in the 4th position after 7 games, they have slipped to the 8th position after playing 16 games. The Haryana Steelers were in the 6th place after playing 7 games, have now moved up the ladder to the 4th position after playing 17 games. The Thalaiva’s look fatigued while the Steelers are forging a sharp weapon as they approach the knock-outs. Their journey is just like a movie, it has lots emotion, drama, comedy, tragedy, suspense and maybe a happy ending too this season. They were comfortably placed 4th till last month but now they have slipped to the 8th position. They have been able to win only 2 out of their last 5 games and that is a cause of concern. Raiders Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar have been consistent while raider Bhavani Rajput has given them more teeth in raiding and this has made the Thalaivas even more dangerous.  The only issue is their tendency to concede too many points though they fight back well and achieve enough to win or to tie the match.  They lost to U Mumba in a very close game earlier this week. That was a match they could have won if they would have kept their cool and not committed unforced errors. 

The Thalaiva has executed 232 successful team raids while conducting 169 successful team tackles. This is primarily due to defender Sagar and Surjeet. Both are in the top 5 list of defenders this season. They have executed 103 successful tackles between them while earning 113 tackle points. 

Sagar has also scored 8 High 5’s in this season. He earned 9 tackle points against the Telegu Titans which was equal to the raid points earned by Manjeet. This is where the Thalaiva’s dominate. But they leak points via unforced errors and they lose if they are not able to earn enough raid points. They will have a tough outing against the current Haryana Steelers team which is known for its quick raids and high intensity.  But  whenever the Thalaiva’s enter the mat in Yellow jerseys they look unbeatable.

Haryana Steelers Preview

The Steelers are an entertaining lot who have fought hard in every match. They have peaked at the right time in the tournament and are quietly climbing the ladder. They are placed 4th in the points table after playing 17 games. They have won 8 out of these 17 while they have been able to TIE 3 more games. Their star has been the incredible Vikash Kandola and defender Jaideep. Both these youngsters have performed beyond expectations. 

Raider Vikash has earned 143 raid points from 118 successful raids and he also has 7 Super 10’s this season. He has been ably supported by raiders like Meetu, Rohit Gulia, Ashish and Vinay. 

Left corner Surender Nada has been inspirational while Jaideep is unbeatable most of the times. Defender Mohit has also been exceptional which his blocks, hip hold and ankle hold’s.  Defenders Ravi Kumar and Akshay have also done well to contribute in tackles especially in the absence of Surender Nada. Coach Rakesh Kumar has done well to rotate his players to keep them fresh and fit.

Defender Jaideep has conducted 52 successful tackles while earning 56 tackle points along with multiple assists. The Haryana Steelers have been successful as they have multiple sources of income. They have conducted 277 successful team raids as well as 164 successful team tackles. This has been the secret of their success mid-tournament. 

They have lost just 1 of their last 5 games and look unbeatable at this stage of the league. They would like to continue the same form against the Thalaivas who are known to play safe in the end. If they keep the Thalaivas behind through the match, Steelers will steal the show.

Winning Prediction

A high scoring and action packed match on hand as the Steelers would like to play aggressive against the Thalaivas. Steelers are in form and would like to continue their winning streak. Their defence is very strong and raiders have a high strike rate. They would be looking forward to complete a hat-trick of victories.

Thalaivas on the other hand have also been a team in form. Their only concern is that they are not able to earn enough raid points to support the actions of the defenders. Raider Ajinkya Pawar has been in great form along with being a DoD specialist. The Thailaiva’s have not been in the best of moods in the last few games but they would like to remind themselves of the drubbing they gave to the Steelers in their last meeting. But a lot has changed for both the teams since then.

This will be a contest between the best defenders of the league but Haryana Steelers may have a slight edge due to better raiders.
