Post the Diwali festivities, the PKL caravan moves to a new city, home of the Puneri Paltan. Welcome to the first triple panga day at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune. This will be the clash between contrasting sides. Tamil Thalaiva has not been able to get a start in this PKL while the Pink Panthers have had a dream run. 

The Thalaiva continued its bad run with a loss to the UP Yodha. Similar issues still remain the core of their failures. It was a dismal show by the Thalaiva who got bundled out twice in the first half itself. They did manage to improve in the second half but it was not significant. They are dearly missing the services of Pawan Sehrawat.

The Jaipur Pink Panthers had a blemish as they lost to the unfancied Puneri Paltan in their last game. Jaipur was completely shocked by the traps laid down by the Paltan for their raiders which completely neutralized them. The total raid earnings of the Pink Panthers were just 17 in the entire game.

This match will give them the opportunity to return to the basics and start winning games by huge margins.

Tamil Thalaivas Preview

Tamil Thalaiva will sincerely hope for a change in their fortunes post-Diwali as they now move to a new location. Though the change of venue hasn’t brought much luck to the Thalaiva in the PKL, they seem to be heading nowhere as of now.

They have won just 1 game this season and they are yet to overcome the loss of Pawan Sehrawat who was seriously injured in the first game of the season. He is touted to be back soon but till then, the Thalaiva may reach a point of no return. They do not have any backup plans and other youngsters haven’t been able to forge half a decent team. Without any team effort, the Thalaiva is looking at another debacle. 

Their last performance against the UP Yodha was unimpressive. Out of their 24 points earned in the match, just 12 came from raids. This is a very disappointing figure as one cannot win games with such earnings. Raiders Narender, Himanshu Narwal, Himanshu Singh, and Ajinkya Pawar seem to be completely out of sorts. Coach Udaya Kumar tried all his players who kept on coming back to the bench. This continued for the whole game as U P Yodha seized the opportunity to register a big win.

Tamil Thalaiva has conceded 11 all-outs in the season while inflicting just 2. They were so over-dependent on Pawan that they forgot to draft players who could perform without him. The Thalaiva is paying the price for this over-confidence.

They will be facing the in-form Jaipur Pink Panthers who are placed 2nd in the points table. Though the Pink Panthers lost their last game, they will be hungry to beat the Thalaiva. In such a situation, instead of becoming sitting ducks, the Thalaiva needs to use guerilla tactics to compete with whatever ammunition they may have. Else this will be another hammering for them.

Jaipur Pink Panthers Preview

Jaipur Pink Panthers are in the pink of their health. They are having a dream run this season and are currently placed 2nd in the points table. They did lose their last game to the Puneri Paltan, but that was a good wake-up call for them. They were completely surprised by the tactics employed by the Paltan which took the sting away from their raiders.

Still, Jaipur has maintained a good record in raiding as well as defense. Arjun Deshwal is in top form with 72 raid points so far. Rahul Chaudhary and Ajith know their roles too. Captain Sunil Kumar led defense is quite ferocious. They have inflicted 13 all-outs so far which is the highest in the season along with the Bulls. 

This encounter against the Thalaiva, gives the Pink Panthers a chance to test their bench. This is going to be a long season and every team will need to have healthy bench strength. They need to give raiders Devank and Bhavani Rajput more match time as their services will be needed throughout the season. Jaipur had won their last 4 games before losing to the Puneri Paltan. Now they will be playing in the hometown of their nemesis.

Jaipur Pink Panthers and Tamil Thalaiva have played just 6 matches to date and Jaipur has won 3 out of them. But interestingly the Thalaiva has managed to TIE 2 out of the 7 games. Jaipur Pink Panthers just need to follow the basics against the Thalaiva as this will give them a chance to come back to their normal winning form. 

Rahul Chaudhary and Ajith may not earn too many points, but they are steady and most importantly experienced. Young left corner Ankush has impressed everyone with his courage and skills. He has become an important asset for the Pink Panthers. Left cover KS Abhishek has not performed to his caliber and this can be the match where he can deliver some lethal blows for his team.

Winning Prediction

This will be the first match of the season at the new venue, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune. The first of the triple panga looks like a one-way street. Tamil Thalaiva looks in complete disarray as there is no light for them at the end of this tunnel. Captain Sagar looks helpless as he is getting no support from any of his teammates. Raiders Himanshu Singh and Narender will return to form. The scratchy defense of the Thalaiva is their biggest concern. 

Jaipur Pink Panthers will look forward to winning this match by a big margin. Arjun Deshwal will compensate for this below-par performance against the Paltan. Defenders Ankush and Sahul Kumar should be able to trap the Thalaiva raiders pretty easily. The Panthers will have to be careful that they do not let down the intensity as the Thalaiva is known to force a TIE. Jaipur cannot afford a tie, as they need a big win to move to the top of the points table once again.
