Placed 9th in the points table, the Bengal Warriors will be cursing their luck. After an eventful start to the season, the Warriors have got caught in a whirlpool. They have been able to win just 3 out of the 10 matches they have played. The former champions lost to the Haryana Steelers in their last match. Though Bengal raider Srikant Jadhav scored a Super 10, the defense could not live up to the expectations. This has been an issue with the Warriors in the last few matches.

The Telegu Titans put up a brave fight against the Gujarat Giants in their last match. The Titans looked good as they led by half-time. This was quite unexpected as their fans suddenly starting dreaming of the 2nd victory of the season. Unfortunately, the Titans changed too many players in the next 20 minutes which resulted in loss of momentum. Ultimately Telegu Titans lost the match by a margin of 5 points.

The Bengal Warriors and Telegu Titans have met 20 times in the PKL. They have played out the maximum number of TIED games between two teams. With 5 TIED games between them, another fact is that Telegu Titans have not defeated the Warriors since 2016. Hence this will be a dream come true of the Titans if they are able to shock the Bengal Warriors.

Telugu Titans Preview

The Telegu Titans have been the weakest team of season 10. With just 1 victory under their belt, it’s more or less a dead-end for them. Their dream of letting Superstar Pawan Sehrawat single-handedly win every game was soon shattered. Even Pawan as a one-man army cannot execute this unrealistic dream. It is not that the Telegu Titans do not have good players in their squad. They have lacked a clear plan of action and proper strategy. Initially they had an issue with their support raiders. Rajneesh was not able to complement Pawan Sehrawat who was running through the opposition. Later the Titans introduced young raider Robin Chaudhary and all-rounder S Sanjeevi who did well playing second fiddle.

As the raiding issues were sorted, Pawan was not available for a few matches. Once he was back, their defense crumbled. Hence there seems to be no end to the woes of Telegu Titans. They put up a brave fight against the Gujarat Giants in their last match. Pawan Sehrawat scored 8 raid points while all-rounder Sanjeevi earned 7 points. The Titans were ahead by 5 points at half-time. The Telegu fans were delighted as they expected their team to win the 2nd match of the season. But the team management changed too many players in the second half and gifted the match to the Gujarat Giants. Defenders Nitin and Mohit earned 9 tackle points between them but they could not get enough support from the other defenders. This has been the story of the Titans even in 2024.

The Titans have the lowest success rate in team raids and team tackles. They have conceded 437 team points in 10 matches which is the highest among all teams. They have conceded 25 all-outs in the season which is also the highest. Hence their match against the Bengal Warriors is not expected to be very fruitful. The Titans have not defeated the Warriors since season 4. Time and again they have come close to beating Bengal but those matches have ended in a TIE. The Titans have 5 TIED games against the Warriors which is the highest between any two teams. The Bengal Warriors lost to the Haryana Steelers in their last match. This is the only motivation for the Titans as they enter the mat for the 11th time in this season.

Bengal Warriors Preview

Former champions have lost a yard of pace in 2024. They looked quite strong after winning 3 matches at the beginning of the season. But unfortunately they have hit the pit-stop in the new-year. Bengal Warriors have not won any of their last 5 matches. They settled for a TIE against the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the last week of December 2023. Since then, the Warriors have run out of luck. They lost their last match to the Haryana Steelers.

The Bengal Warriors have one of the best defenders and raiders on the circuit. Shubham Shinde has executed 31 successful tackles in 10 matches while Captain Maninder Singh has earned 97 raid points from 77 successful raids. This includes 5 Super 10’s and 4 Super raids. Still the Bengal Warriors have struggled to win matches. There has been a collective issue with their defense as well as their strategy. The Bengal Warriors are still not able to decide whether to go for an all-out attack plan or wait for their prey. They have played 10 matches in the season, yet they are not able to work dynamically. Though their success rate in team raids is about 43%, their efficiency in team tackles is just 36%. Table toppers Puneri Paltan have a success rate of 60% in team tackles. This is the difference between the top teams and the Bengal Warriors.

Raider Srikant Jadhav scored 10 points in the last match against the Haryana Steelers. The Warriors led by half-time as they also inflicted an all-out on the Steelers. Srikant was brave to weather out some harsh tacking from Haryana. This intensity was not visible in the second half as the Bengal Warriors could earn just 3 tackle points. This was a match that they should have easily won. Defender Shubham Shinde and left corner S Aditya have been consistent. But Vaibhav Garje has been leaking points. The Warriors are missing a proper 4th defender or a capable all-rounder. Placed 9th in the points table, the Bengal Warriors are desperately looking for a victory. They need to make a daring come-back in the season. Fortunately, the Bengal Warriors have a very good record against the Telegu Titans. Bengal has won 12 out of their 20 episodes. Generally the matches between both teams are low scoring one and that is the reason, both teams have forced 5 TIE’s between them. This might be the 6th TIED game between the two teams considering their struggles.

Welcome to the comedy of errors of season 10 as former champions Bengal Warriors take on the Telegu Titans. Both teams have struggled to win matches. The Titans have just one victory to their credit. In this sense, they do not have much to lose. Raiders Pawan Sehrawat and S Sanjeevi will trouble the fragile Bengal Warriors. Pawan will score a Super 10. The Telegu defense is a cause of concern but young defenders Nitin and Mohit will be precise in their hunting. Though it remains to be seen how much match time do they get?

The Bengal Warriors will depend on Captain Maninder and Srikant Jadhav for their earnings. Both will score a Super 10. But the Bengal Warriors need their defenders to work overtime. Shubham Shinde and S Aditya will target Telegu captain Pawan Sehrawat. Defender Vaibhav Garje will be scratchy but still he will execute some daring tackles.

The match will be quite exciting as both teams are struggling with their defense. The first half may be a bit slow, but both teams will attack relentlessly in the second half. Telegu Titans have a great opportunity to force a TIE.

Bengal Warriors will win.
