Telegu Titans and Gujarat Fortune Giants have broken the hearts of many this season including their own. Both teams are full of characters and attitude but they never took off. Both find themselves at the bottom of the points table with no light at the end of the tunnel.

The Titans are still searching for their second victory. They came close to beating the Bengal Warriors in their last game but had to settle for a TIE. The Fortune Giants have won 3 out of their last 5 games. They lost to the Jaipur Pink Pathers in their last match.

Now that they play each other, pride and hope of a miracle will keep them going. The Titans have brave new players trying to impress teams with their skills. While raiders Ankit Beniwal, Rajneesh and Rakesh Gowda have been earning raid points, young Galla Raju played well in the last match. 

The Fortune Giants have an outside chance to make it to the play-offs but the Telegu Titans will not succumb easily. Raiders Pradeep Kumar and Ajay have been aggressive in the last few games and they can take advantage of the fragile Titan defence.

Initially their fans were extremely disappointed with their team’s performance. The Titans took some time to win their first game and they are still searching for their second win. Their fans might be feeling sorry for them. The Telegu Titans have been simply unlucky. They have lost 12 out of their 17 games and they have tied 4 matches. But most of the matches that the Titans have lost have been very close. It the Titans would have been a bit aggressive, they could have easily won 4-5 of these games. Now they find themselves at the bottom of the table with just their pride to play for.

They scored an impressive TIE against the Bengal Warriors in their last game. Their defenders hunted with precision and scored 10 tackle points in all. Left corner Adarsh who plays more as a raider nowadays has been impressive. Defenders Sandeep Kandola and Akash Chaudhary combined well in earlier games and they would be hungry to hunt down the Fortune Giants. Incidentally the Telegu Titans have executed 151 successful team tackles while conducting only 254 successful team raids. 

They have conceded 634 points in 17 games which is a very high number considering their raiding income does not match the expenditure. 

They have inflicted only 18 all-outs while conceding 24 through the season.

They just need to balance the raiding income and the defense expenditure. They have been unlucky to have lost Bahubali Siddharth Desai very early in the season. 

They may not be able to make it to the play-offs but they are an entertaining team and if they can set the mat on fire in the remaining games, it will be a sort of payback to their die-hard fans.

Gujarat Giants Preview

The Fortune Giants probably came into the season as students preparing for another subject but facing another paper in the examination. They were initially very rigid with their approach which led to losses in a lot of games. They realized this a bit too late and then Covid struck. The Fortune Giants made a grand comeback only to lose their effervescence in the next game. They lost to the Patna Pirates and then to the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Though they have started to score heavily as compared to their earlier games, they seem to be lacking the killer punch. Also they are prone to very silly unforced errors which do not allow them to dominate the opposition as they lag behind all the time.

They will take on the Telegu Titans next whom they beat effortlessly last month. But since then a lot has changed for the Fortune Giants too. 

Raiders Ajay, Pradeep Kumar and Rakesh Narwal have been hunting well while the defence has been blowing hot and cold. Captain Sunil Kumar has not been it the best forms off late and that hurts their prospects. Earlier seasons of Pro Kabaddi were rife with the legend of Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhaiswal being the most lethal combination of the league. This time this combo has failed to deliver.

The Fortune Giants have executed just 132 successful team tackles in 17 games. They have not been able to forge a settled team and they often tend to play without the right team balance.

The Fortune Giants are placed 9th after 17 games with 44 points. They have won 6 games and tied 3 other games. They still have an outside chance to make it to the play-offs. But they will need more than a miracle to see that happen.

This will be entertaining encounter as two teams who are at the bottom half of the points table. Both teams have more problems to take care off rather than something to offer. Telegu Titans are in a slight advantageous position as they have some good young raiders who are doing well. Rajneesh, Ankit Beniwal and Rakesh Gowda will try and exploit the fragile Gujarat defence to earn heavily. Emotions will run high for sure as the Fortune Giants have not been able to control themselves on several occasions. Their players and their coach have been reprimanded quite often by the umpires. Raider Pradeep Kumar and defender Girish Erank will have to play well in order to keep the Fortune Giants motivated throughout the match. Gujarat Fortune Giants have to take a leap of faith now if they want to see through the rest of the season. In the current scenario it will be a tough match for them against the Titans.
