This will be a story of a team that has displayed class but has been inconsistent and the other team which has not been able to kick-start its campaign for season 9. Puneri Paltan won a street fight against arch-rivals, U Mumba, in their last game. It was a nerve-wracking match as U Mumba almost snatched a TIE in that game. It was the Iranian flavor that saved the Paltan as Sultan Fazel Attrachali scored 4 tackle points while Mohammed Nabibaksh earned 4 points apart from assisting the defense on several occasions.

Telegu Titans got thrashed by Dabang Delhi in their last game. It seems to be a norm as Telegu has not been able to find a decent team combination. They should feel fortunate that they were able to beat the Patna Pirates but that could not motivate them enough to graduate to the next level. Telegu Titans have to rely on young raider Vinay for earnings while they have displayed a complete breakdown in their defense time and again. This is not good news for them as they are not learning from their mistakes. It will be a tough ask for them to beat the resurgent Puneri Paltan who is slowly becoming a giant killing unit.

Telugu Titans Preview

They say fortune favors the brave, but looks like even luck and helps the Telegu Titans this season. A start-studded line-up along with deputy coach Manjeet Chillar who was part of Dabang Delhi who won the last season, still cannot cultivate a winning habit.

Since the first game, the Telegu Titans have been searching for a decent combination. Big names like Siddhart Desai and Monu Goyat have not delivered while bigger names in the defense have failed to impress. Regular breakdowns, lack of coordination, and deviation from strategy have made life difficult for the Titans this season. 

The Titans have the lowest successful team tackles, have inflicted just 2 all-outs in 4 games but have conceded 7 all-outs in the process. This has been a disappointing season for them.

The Titans also suffered a blow as their inform raider Rajneesh was injured in a freak accident on the mat and shall not be available for some time. Their most successful raider is a young unknown player, Vinay. He has been their lone warrior with 23 raid points in 4 games.

The Titans looked the strongest on paper post the auctions but they are placed 11th in the points table just above the Patna Pirates. Though this is a long season, the Titans need to rejuvenate as soon as possible as they might end up at the bottom of the points table just like the previous seasons.

Puneri Paltan Preview

Puneri Paltan has been a maverick side for many years. The Paltan plays an aggressive brand of kabaddi but they are not able to maintain the intensity over the entire season. They started with a TIE against the Patna Pirates, went down fighting to the Bengaluru Bulls, lost their way against the Fortune Giants but at last beat arch-rivals U Mumba in a tense game to register their first win.

Their raiding has been fantastic with Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat earning 73 points collectively in 4 games. But their defense has been prone to unforced errors.

Until the last game, the Paltan was searching for something unknown, but they got back Sultan Fazel Attrachali and Nabibaksh. Both played a crucial role in taming U Mumba which has probably given the edge to the Paltan. Fazel is a great motivator as well as a deadly left corner. He has over 300 tackle points in 141 PKL games with a strike rate of 52%.

He is one of the best defenders in the PKL. He scored some crucial tackle points against his former team U Mumba which helped the Paltan win the game. All-rounder Nabibaksh is another important addition to the Paltan as he can support Aslam and Mohit in raids. 

Defender Sombir was particularly lethal in the last game, especially in the second half. Right corner Gaurav Khatri has played well in the last couple of games and this augurs well for the Puneri Paltan as Fazel can guide the young team to victories against fancy opponents. The Paltan has a great opportunity to exploit the brittle Telegu Titans and register a huge win. This will help them to improve their score difference in the points table.

Telegu Titans are in a great whirlpool where they can’t seem to get together to plan an escape. With meager earnings, it will be difficult for them to survive and feed a star-studded team. Raider Vinay has been the lone warrior as he will have to beat Fazel and Sombir to earn points for this team. Defenders Surjeet, Vishal, and Parvesh need to strike as they are capable of far better performances.

Puneri Paltan raiders Aslam and Mohit will once again create mayhem in the Titan defense. Fazel Attrachali will look forward to executing all-outs in both halves of the match. Both teams have a history of leaking points in unforced errors and advanced tackles but it looks like Telegu Titans may just lose steam early in the match. The Paltan has won 9 out of their 16 games and looks like they will add another feature to their cap with an easy win.
