The repeat of the southern derby will be a mouth-watering contest. The Telegu Titans have nothing else but pride to play for while the Tamil Thalaiva needs to win at any cost to keep its hopes alive for the next round. The Telegu Titans never crossed their threshold while the Thalaiva overcame the biggest challenges to battle it out with the best. 

The Titans have realized that this is the end of the road for them this season. There were only 2 moments of glory for them this year, once when they beat the Patna Pirates and recently when they beat U Mumba. Else it has been the same old story for them.

The Tamil Thalaiva have kept their hopes alive. They beat the mighty Bengal Warriors but suffered a hiccup against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. But they bounced back to beat the Gujarat Warriors and then settled for a TIE with Dabang Delhi. The Thalaiva surely wants to win this match to stay afloat.

The Telegu Titans have disappointed everyone including themselves. They are stranded at the bottom of the points table after 19 games with a couple of wins this season. The team has struggled to put up a decent performance on the mat. 

But they did manage to beat U Mumba in their last game which shocked everyone. It was good to see the Titans fighting it out in the middle. Their fans have expected a fight even if their team loses. The Titans have nowhere to go and no one to blame except themselves. They bought the best in the auctions but could not forge a champion side. Nevertheless, the Titans have a few games to entertain their fans. 

Fortunately for them, Siddharth Desai is back in form. He scored his first Super 10 against his former team U Mumba in a losing cause. But Siddharth got his redemption in their second meeting with U Mumba. Siddharth was instrumental in helping his team beat U Mumba and register their second win of the season. 

But post that victory, the Titans have lost their steam as they have lost 3 consecutive matches. The Titans have conceded 39 all-outs in 19 matches which is the highest by any team. This means that on average, the Titans concede an all-out at least twice in every match.

The Tamil Thalaiva has always been a slow starter but they have scripted a spirited return this season. They were a bit unfortunate to lose their star player Pawan Sehrawat to a freak injury in their very first match of the season. But the Thalaiva has learned it the hard way and slowly they have started to punch above their weight. They have won 8 out of their 19 games and are placed 5th in the points table. They were placed 10th after playing 10 games but they have beaten big teams on their way up. They need to continue this good work in order to make it to the next round.

The Thalaiva has been impressive in the last few games, especially with their raiding. Young Narender seized the opportunity and excelled under pressure. He scored 14 points against the Dabang Delhi in the last game and was instrumental in helping his team force a TIE. Raider Ajinkya Pawar and Himanshu Narwal have also contributed to the Thalaiva’s success.

The Thalaiva has been intelligent in certain games. They have forced their opponents to settle for a TIE on certain occasions. The Thalaiva has tied 4 games this season, the highest by any team. This tactic helped them score important points which elevated them to the 5th spot. 

Apart from the raiding, the Thalaiva has excelled in defense too. Captain Sagar was the lone wolf in the initial games but he has some support from defenders Himanshu and Abhishek. The Southern derby involving the Titans and the Thalaiva is always an entertaining contest. Though the Telegu Titans have nothing left in the tournament, they will certainly try out new things to entertain their fans.

The Titans have tried various new players in their last few matches. They may try the services of defender Mohammed Silas and all-rounder Hanumanthu. They tried right-corner Vijay Kumar in their last match too. But their raiding will be led by Siddharth Desai and Abhishek. Defender Vishal Bharadwaj will be aggressive from his left corner position. 

The Tamil Thalaiva will be aggressive from their first raid. Defender Sagar may not be fit to take the mat hence Raider Ajinkya Pawar may be the stand-in captain. Along with raider Narender, Ajinkya will try and exploit the weak Titan defense to the fullest. Defenders Sahil Gulia, Arpit Saroha, and Himanshu will trap the Telegu raiders and inflict at least 2 all-outs in the match. 

Though Telegu will stand and fight, it may not be enough to tame the Thalaiva.
