Welcome to the contest between nervous breakdowns and team-effort. U Mumba had won 3 consecutive matches only to lose their next 2 games. This was only due to a sudden breakdown in their defense. They lost the Dabang Delhi in the last match by a margin of 6 points. Though young raiders Zaferdanesh and Guman scored 20 raid points between them, the Mumba defense could score just 7 tackle points out of the total 34 team points. On the other hand, the Haryana Steelers are riding a wave of teamwork where none of raiders scored a Super 10, but collectively they bundle out their opponents.

The Steelers scored 16 tackle points in the second half against the Bengal Warriors displaying their ruthless approach. This has helped Haryana claw back in the points table to the 6th position. Both team have won 6 out of their 10 matches. U Mumba are slowing down as we are into the second month of the season, while the Haryana Steelers are picking up momentum after initial losses. Hence this is a crucial game for both teams. U Mumba has won just 1 out of their last 4 encounters with the Steelers and this will be a cause of concern for them as they play their final match in Mumbai.

U Mumba Preview

After an inconsistent start to the season, fans thought that U Mumba is peaking at the right time. They won 4 consecutive matches and have moved to the 6th spot in the points table. But they have lost back to back games on their home turf in Mumbai. They lost to the defending champions, Jaipur followed by a defeat to former champions Dabang Delhi. This has been the pattern of U Mumba in season 10 as they win a few matches which is followed by a nervous breakdown. U Mumba has issues with their raiding in their first few games. But it was sorted as Guman Singh found his mojo along with young Iranian raider Zafardanesh scoring at a brisk pace.

Both these youngsters were on song against Dabang Delhi. Zafar scored a Super 10 while Guman earned 9 points. Raiders Jai Bhagwan and Pranay Rane too contributed to the cause. But the Mumba defense was completely toothless. They could score just 3 tackle points in the first half. Left corner Sombir could not open his account while captain Surender, Mahender Singh and Bittu did not fire. This is a cause of concern of U Mumba who have win as many matches as possible to remain in the top 5. Mumba had a similar breakdown against the Jaipur Pink Panthers where their defenders could score just 3 tackle points in the entire match. This has hurt their efficiency in team tackles which has gone down to 34% which is just better than the last team in that list. U Mumba needs to find urgent solutions for this problem. Though they have inflicted 13 all-outs in 10 matches they have also conceded 11. Hence there isn’t much to exploit from inflicting all-outs on their opponents. Mumba will be up against the very aggressive Haryana Steelers. Their opponents have mastered the art of team-work and using a number of players through the match.

Captain Surender Singh needs to be more precise and consistent. U Mumba has also perfected the art of hit and run. They start the match aggressively and by taking a huge lead by half-time they push their opponents towards a dead end. Mumba will follow similar tactics against the Haryana Steelers.

Haryana Steelers Preview

The Haryana Steelers are back on track after a few speed-breakers early in the season. After overcoming the disappointment of Siddharth Jadhav not firing, the Steelers have gone back to the SOP. They have been using veteran Chandran Ranjit in the last few matches and the move has worked. Coach Manpreet used the services of Vinay which worked for the Steelers. Not the coach has backed his trusted palyer, Chandran and the duo has achieved their targets.

Haryana defeated the Bengal Warriors by a margin of 6 points. This was a clinical performance as both their raids and defenders were in sync. None of their raiders scored a Super 10, but collectively they earned 21 raid points in the match. Captain Jaideep was ruthless with his tackles as he scored 4 tackle points while left cover Mohit Nandal achieved a Hi 5. Coach Manpreet tried out 11 players in the man. This is unique of Haryana Steelers as they keep their opponents guessing. With 6 victories out of 10 matches, Haryana needs to win regularly. The Dhakad boys have won just 2 out of their last 5 games and this needs to change. Their biggest strength is the options they have in their squad. Also most of the youngsters have punched above their weight. Radier Vinay, defenders Rahul Sethpal and Ashish are prime examples.

Haryana Steelers have inflicted 15 all-outs on their opponents in this season. Their success rate in team raid is about 33% and that is a concern. Their efficiency in team tackles is 41% which is quite impressive. The Haryana Steelers have executed 16 Super tackles which proves that they excel under pressure. This also indicates that time and again in every match they have less number of players on the mat. Hence the Steerlers needs to guard their players from giving away easy touch points to their opponents. Haryana will be up against U Mumba who are struggling. The Steelers have lost just 1 out of their last 4 matches to U Mumba. This will be a golden opportunity for them to exploit their fragile opponents and earn valuable points to help them move up the points table.

Welcome to the final match of the Mumbai leg as home team U Mumba takes on the revitalized Haryana Steelers. U Mumba had a lot of issues with their raiding as well as their defense. They seem to have sorted one of them but their defense is extremely fragile. This has been proved in their last 2 matches. Captain Surender needs to recharge his defenders else this match will be an uphill task. The absence of defender Rinku Singh has hurt them badly. Hopefully defenders Sombir and Bittu will get back their precision against the Steelers.

Haryana will be looking forward to set the cat among the pigeon. Veteran Chandran Ranjit and Vinay will score quickly helping the Steelers take the lead by half-time. Haryana will also try to inflict all-outs early in the first half. None of their raiders may score a Super 10, but collectively they will trouble the Mumba defense. Captain Jaideep will be ruthless while corners Rahul Sethpal and Mohit will create problems of the Mumba raiders. This contest will be entertaining in the second half as one of the team might get caught in the whirlpool. It is an uphill task for the home team.

Haryana Steelers will win.
