They went down fighting to the Gujarat Giants in their next game only to be stonewalled by the Puneri Paltan in the 3rd match. These losses have exposed a few weaknesses in U Mumba.

Captain Surender Singh has been inconsistent through the 3 games. He has been guilty of unforced errors which creates unnecessary pressure on the other defenders. Over all the Mumba defense has been below average, their major headache has been their lackluster raiding. Raiders Guman Singh, Pranay Rane and young Iranian Zafardanesh hunted as a pack in the first match against U P Yodha. But since then they have not been able to set the mat on fire. 

The trio could score just 22 raid points in their match against the Puneri Patlan. Zafardanesh has scored just 25 raid points in 3 matches while Guman has scored just 19 in 2 matches. This has put a cap on their earnings. The Mumba defense have done better than their raiders. With a team tackle success rate of just 32%, U Mumba have generally struggled on the mat. 

All-rounder Visvanath has been the only player who has impressed for Mumba. He scored 6 points in the last game which included 3 tackle points. But he needs the support of other raiders and defenders as U Mumba takes on 3 time champions Patna Pirates. 

Mumba have dominated the Pirates as they have won 10 out of their 18 games. 1 match ended in a TIE. Most of their encounters have been low scoring matches. But currently both teams are terribly out of form which may result in fireworks and a treat for the fans.

3 time champions Patna Pirates had one of the worst seasons last year as they finished 11th in the points table. Unfortunately they could not gather any momentum which resulted in them losing close matches, those which they should have one. 

Patna Pirates maintained their raiding combination with Sachin Tanwar and Manjeet Chillar at the helm of affairs. They have the services of raiders like Rakesh Narwal along with Kunal Mehta, Sudhakar, Ranjit Naik, Anuj and Sandeep Kumar. They have the option of Taiwanese raider Zheng Wei Chang too.

Patna started the season with consecutive victories. They hammered the Telegu Titans in their inaugural bout and then went on to beat the Gujarat Giants in a spicy encounter. But they lost their momentum completely as they got smashed by the Bengal Warriors. This match produced over 100 points in all as Patna lost by a margin of 18 points. This was due to the total failure of their defense. 

Over the years, the Pirates were heavily dependent on Iranian all-rounder Mohammedreza who used to be lethal from the left corner position. Without Mohammedreza, the Pirates have not been able to find a decent alternative. The Pirates were bowled out thrice in the match as they kept on conceding points to the Warriors. Captain Neeraj Kumar and all-rounder Ankit could not open their account. Defender Krishnan was the only ray of hope as he scored 4 tackle points. Though Sachin Tanwar and Sudharkar scored a Super 10 each, the Pirates could not stop the leakage of points by their defense. 

They will have to regroup immediately as they take on U Mumba. The Pirates need to build some momentum in their first few matches as this is a long season. Patna Pirates have not been able to dominate U Mumba over the years. This will be an important game for them as any fluctuation in their form may have long term consequences.

Generally encounters between U Mumba and the Pirates have been low scoring ones. But both teams have been leaking points. Their raiders too seem to be out of form and hence it is very difficult to predict the result of this match. 

U Mumba have too many issue to tackle. Raiders Guman and Zafardanesh have been scratchy and they will struggle against the Pirates. One of them may be able to score a Super 10. Raider Pranay Rane will be impressive if he is sent as their main raider. All-rounder Visvanath and right corner Rinlu Singh may surprise the Pirates with some deadly tackles. 

Patna Pirates need to regroup at the earliest as this could be another hammering. Raiders Sachin Tanwar and Sudharkar will earn handsomely while raider Manjeet will also be back in form. Unfortunately for the Pirates, their defense will struggle and commit multiple unforced errors. But Patna will maintain the intensity through the match and will come back in style even if they trail by halftime. This will be a match full of comedy of errors.
