Both these teams met on the 16th of October. U Mumba lost the plot by just 2 points. The repeat of the Maharashtra derby will be an exciting contest as both teams have done well so far this season. U Mumba has a few issues but they have combined well to win a few games. The Puneri Paltan has been the most impressive as they have utilized their resources quite well.
U Mumba has lost steam at crucial moments in a few games. They need to improve their consistency which will enable them to dominate proceedings. Unfortunately, U Mumba has lost back-to-back games which have hurt their prospects. They lost to the Patna Pirates followed by a loss to the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Both were close games that U Mumba could have won had they been tactically more prepared.
Surprisingly Puneri Paltan lost to the Tamil Thalaiva on 6th November but returned the favor by beating them in the last game. It should have been a cakewalk for the Paltan but they managed to win by a solitary point. The Paltan needs to tighten its defense as they take on arch-rivals U Mumba. They were able to beat Mumba in their last meeting only due to their solid defense.
With both teams losing their last game, this match will be a high-voltage drama that will entertain the fans of both teams.
U Mumba has been the epitome of hard work. They do not have any mercurial players but with sheer determination and teamwork, they have succeeded to force their way into the points table. After playing 11 games they are placed 6th in the points table.
The raiding trio of Ghuman Singh, Jai Bhagwan, and Ashish have done well so far. Mumba has also used Iranian Heiderali Ekrami as one of their frontline raiders. Coach Anil Chaprana has tried to utilize his raiding resources carefully as this is a very long season.
After completing a hat-trick of victories, U Mumba lost back-to-back games. Both losses were heartbreaking as the margin was very low. They should have won both games or at least forced a TIE so that they could share valuable points. What let them down was a breakdown in their defense and last-minute unforced errors. In both these games, U Mumba either could not earn enough tackle points in the second half or conceded an all-out in the dying moments of the game. That was the margin between victory and defeat.
U Mumba has a high success rate in team tackles per match. It is 10.18 tackle points on average per match. They need to increase this as their earnings through raids are decent but not mind-blowing.
U Mumba has also executed 14 Super tackles in 11 games which is the highest by any team.
They have inflicted 14 all-outs in 11 games while conceding 13.
Mumba will have to be prepared for a street fight when they take on the Puneri Paltan once again. This will be a test of their mental skills and tactical prowess. Their former captain Fazel Attrachali is now in the Puneri camp. U Mumba lost to the Paltan in their last encounter this season, they will look forward to avenging it on the Paltan’s home turf.
The Puneri Paltan has been by far the best team of the season. They began with a few losses but got their act together very quickly. Young raiders, a shrewd captain, and tactical prowess have helped them reach the pinnacle of the points table after 11 games.
The Paltan has quietly applied all the plans made off the field. They have a deadly trio of young raiders in the form of Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat, and Akash Shinde. They have also used Pankaj Mohite and all-rounder Nabibaksh for raiding. Coach BC Ramesh is a master tactician and has used his resources efficiently.
The Paltan was doing well in their last 4 games except that they faltered against the Tamil Thalaiva. They lost the game by just 1 point which was due to a strategic error. It was a nail-biter where the Thalaiva smartly utilized the last raid to steal the point as well as the show. This was a rare blemish for the Paltan.
But overall the Puneri Paltan has fired on all cylinders. They have inflicted 15 all-outs in 11 games while conceding 11. The only issue is that some of these all-outs have come late in the second half of a few games which made the match tricky for the Paltan.
Mohit Goyat, Aslam Inamdar, and Akash Shinde have scored 9 Super 10’s in 11 games. This is an impressive number but the Paltan will expect more from its raiders. Captain Fazel Attrachali has conducted 29 successful tackles in just 9 games while defender Sombir has scored 20 successful tackles in 8 games.
186 out of their total 451 team raids have been successful which allows the Puneri Paltan to dominate games from the beginning. The only issue with the Paltan is the temporary breakdown of their defense which leads to uncomfortable situations.
The Paltan will look forward to con their arch-rivals once again. They were able to control their earlier encounter but this time U Mumba will be brutal towards them. This will be another nail-biter for both teams.
Welcome to another street fight at the PKL as arch-rivals U Mumba take on the Puneri Paltan. Both teams have always been intense in their battles and U Mumba will be looking for vengeance.
The Puneri Paltan will once again rely on Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar for their raids. They may spring in a surprise by unleashing Akash Shinde early in the match. All-rounder Nabibaksh needs to deliver in this match as his contribution may influence the final outcome. Fazel Attrachali and Sombir will trap the Mumba raiders while defenders Abinesh and Sanket Sawant have to avoid unforced errors.
U Mumba will be desperate to beat the Paltan. Raiders Ashish and Jai Bhagwan will start well.
This will be a face-off between the Iranian raider Heiderali Ekrami and the Puneri captain Fazel Attrachali.
Captain Surender Singh and right corner Rinku Narwal may trouble the Puneri raiders. But the Puneri Paltan may just inflict an all-out in the second half over U Mumba to change the flow of the match.
U Mumba will win.
