The contest between both these teams will be a unique one as both are struggling to win matches. UP Yodha is placed 10th in the points table with only 3 victories to their credit while the Tamil Thalaiva is placed 11th with just 2 wins in the season. UP Yodha has under-performed in season 10. With one of the best combination of raiders and defenders, the Yodha has simply wasted its chances. Currently placed 10th in the points table, its future in the season looks bleak. They have been able to win just 1 out of their last 5 matches. It is hard to believe that a team with the likes of Pardeep Narwal, Surender Gill, Sumit and Nitesh Kumar are not able to forge a winning partnership. 

UP started quite well in the season, but they got caught up in a mental trap. It may be fatigue or lack of creative strategy, the UP Yodha has failed on all counts. Just as season9, Pardeep Narwal was expected to be targeted by their opponents. Hence raider Surender Gill took the lead while Pardeep played second fiddle. This formula worked as Surender has earned 86 raid points from 9 matches. Pardeep Narwal displayed his class in a couple of matches by scoring Super 10’s. But somehow the Yodha has not been able to win. They lost to the Puneri Paltan in their last match by a margin of 9 points. Left corner Sumit has been on top of this game with 31 successful tackles in 9 matches. Yet UP has been able to win just 3 matches in the season. 

UP defenders were precise in their hunting against the Puneri Paltan. Sumit and Nitesh Kumar scored a Hi 5 each. But their defenders failed to complement this effort. Pardeep scored 8 raid points while Vijay Malik was toothless. The absence of Surender Gill hurt UP Yodha in this match. UP did try young raiders like Gagana Gowda and all-rounder Nitin Panwar. But nothing seems to be working for this team. Their success rate in team raids is just about 36% while their efficiency in team tackles is about 40%. But the UP Yodha has conceded 404 team points which has been their biggest drawback. They have also conceded 16 all-outs in 9 matches. Tamil Thalaiva is the epitome of hard luck. Despite their team trying everything, the Thalaiva has not been able to replicate the success of Season 9 when they reached the semi-finals. The Tamil Thalaiva has to play within its limitations as they do not have any superstars in their ranks. Young raiders Narender Kandola and Ajinkya Pawar have worked overtime. They have also used the services of young raiders like Himanshu Singh and Himanshu Narwal. Currently placed 11th in the points table, the men in yellow are staring down the barrel with just 2 victories from 10 matches. 

They lost to the Puneri Paltan in the last match. But the Thalaiva should be very happy about their efforts as they made the Paltan sweat for every point in the low scoring game. It was a well-planned strategy by the Thalaiva to slow down the pace so that the Paltan can be foxed. It was a defense heavy approach which worked for them. Tamil led by 1 point at half-time. Captain Sagar was lethal as he scored 7 tackle points. Defenders M Abhishek and Nitin complemented their captain to create a realistic chance of victory. Unfortunately the Thalaiva suffered an all-out in the dying moments of the second half, which took away from them the chance of forcing a TIE. But Tamil Thalaiva should be working towards using the same strategy against the UP Yodha in their next match. 

Tamil Thalaiva has a decent success rate of about 40% in team tackles. That is their strength. Defender Sahil Gulia has been impressive apart from captain Sagar. But their chances of winning increase if the defense is able to resonate as a unit. Their efficiency in team raids is about 35% which is below average. They tried the option of raider Nitin Singh in the last match. But the onus of earning raid points is on Narender Kandola and Ajinkya Pawar. Both these raiders were extremely successful last year, especially in the second half of the tournament. They will have to repeat the same in the remaining matches. UP Yodha and Tamil Thalaiva need to win this match desperately. UP Yodha is in a big mess considering that their raiders are not able to earn while their defenders have not been consistent. Pardeep Narwal will have to lead the raiding in the absence of Surender Gill. But he may not be able to score a Super 10. UP Yodha will have lot of problems scoring in the first-half of the match. Defenders Sumit will be lethal, but Nitesh Kumar may leak points due to unforced errors. All-rounder Gurdeep has lost his form in the last few matches. Hence UP will be leaking points due to silly mistakes. 

Tamil Thalaiva will exploit this situation. They will employ the “Go-slow” tactics as they used it against the Puneri Paltan. With a tight control, the men in yellow will increase the pace in the second half. Raiders Narender Kandola and Ajinkya Pawar will complement each other but none of them will score a Super 10. It will be the Tamil defenders who will enjoy every moment. Captain Sagar and Sahil Gulia will hunt precisely while young left corner Nitish Kumar will be the trump card. This will be a tough match for the UP Yodha.
