The Telegu Titans are in known territory as they have lost their first 2 matches. They lost their first two games last year only to beat the Patna Pirates. Will they continue this trend as they clash with UP Yodha. 

The Yodha thrashed Haryana Steelers by a margin of 30 points. It was raining points for captain Pardeep Narwal as well as Surinder Gill as both scored a Super 10. But the most potent player for the Yodha was left corner Sumit who was merciless in this tackles. He earned 8 points to send the Haryana raiders running for cover. UP took an unassailable lead of 15 points at half-time never to look back.

Telegu Titans once again look out of ideas as if they prepared for the wrong examination. They have the firepower but their ammunition is still unwrapped post-delivery. Star raider Siddharth Desai was slow off the blocks as the Patna defenders hunted him with ease. The Telegu raiders collectively earned just 17 raid points in the match. Their defenders worked overtime but could not compensate for the lack of earnings from their raiders.

Telegu will have a tough time against the Yodha who must have planned for another memorable thrashing of their opponents.

U.P. Yoddha Preview

The UP Yodha has intelligently used its resources in its first few matches. They realized it last season that Dubki King Pardeep Narwal will be the main target for all their opponents. Hence they used him as a side-kick to Surinder Gill and this strategy has worked for them.

Captain Pardeep and Surinder looted the Harayana Steelers through the match to beat them by a margin of 30 points. Pardeep scored 12 while Surinder earned 13 raid points. It was one of the biggest thrashing in the history of PKL. The UP defense came to the party with 20 tackle points against the Steelers. Left corner Sumit was precise with his tackles as he earned 8 tackle points with a 100% strike rate. 

Nitesh Kumar scored 4 points while all-rounder Gurdeep scored a Hi 5. This was also due to the fact that the Haryana Steeler raiders were sluggish. But the UP Yodha has another golden opportunity to thrash the Telegu Titans who looked listless in their first two games. The Yodha replaced left cover Harender Kumar in this match. They also gave Kenyan Samuel Wafula some match time considering that they were leading by 15 points at half-time. The Yodha has dominated the Telegu Titans over the years as they have won 8 out of their 12 matches. UP had to settle for a TIE in two previous games too. They have not lost a match to the Titans since season 7, such has been their monopoly.

Though this is the first week of season 10, UP will look to win as many matches this month. This will help them compensate for any injuries or loss of form later in the season. Dubki King Pardeep Narwal has been impressive. He covers the mat like a butterfly and stings like a bee. He has earned over 1500 raid points in the PKL and is considered one of the legends of the game. And one can’t forget the fact that he did not play the first 3 seasons of the league. 

Raider Surinder Gill has also displayed maturity as he is able to fluidly exchange the lead role with Pardeep. Both have their unique style and they are fluid in their approach. Both will prey on the Telegu Titans effortlessly.

Telugu Titans Preview

Many teams are known as slow starters, but the Titans take their own sweet time. Last season they surprised everyone by beating the Patna Pirates in their third game only to wait till the end of the season to win another match. They have lost their first two matches this season too. 

The drubbing at the hands of the Patna Pirates this season was a gentle reminder for them. The Pirates avenged their defeat of season 9 in style beating the Titans by 22 points. Unfortunately for Telegu Titans, they seem to be having chronic problems. Captain Pawan Sherawat is the lone warrior as he scored a Super 10. Second raider Rajneesh is woefully out of form as he could not even open his account. In the absence of the third raider, Titans could not earn enough to sustain. 

Defenders Shankar Gadai, Parvesh Bhainswal and Milad Jabbari could not combine well in this match. Left corner Sandeep Dhull was the lone warrior as he earned 4 tackle points. The Telegu Titans seem to be hypnotized through the match. They run out of options very quickly and do not have an alternative plan of action. This hurts them badly not just exposing their weaknesses but it also affects their mental frame. 

Their team raid success rate is a dismal 32% while their successful team tackle rate is under 30%. They cannot expect to win games with such performances. They will be up against the formidable UP Yodha who have dominated them over the years. They have not beaten the Yodha since 2019. They had their best performance against the UP Yodha way back in season 7 when they beat them once and TIED another league match.

This contest will test the resolve of the Titans. The result of this match will also carve their path in the season. The Telegu Titans are overly dependent on Pawan Sehrawat. They do not have back up for raider Rajneesh if in case he fails to deliver. Young raiders Praful Zaware and Omkar Patil have done well but they need to improve their performance in order to complement the efforts of their captain Pawan. Season 10 looks like a games of thorns for the Telegu Titans.

Winning Prediction

It will be a game of thrones for the UP Yodha while the Telegu Titans will wear a crown of thorns. Both teams are heading in opposition directions as far as their form is concerned. The Telegu Titans have to use Praful Zaware and Omkar Patil along with Pawan instead of all-rounders. Left corner Sandeep Dhull will be the saving grace as he will trap Surinder Gill regularly. The Titans have to get all-rounder Sanjeevi instead of Shankar Gadai.

The UP Yodha will be aiming for another thrashing as Pardeep and Surinder will run through the Telegu defense. Yodha will lead at half time, as both their top raiders will score a Supre 10. Defenders Sumit and Nitesh Kumar will be particularly harsh on Pawan Sehrawat and he will be kept off the mat for at least 12-15 mins in the match. 

The only way the Titans can win this match is by trapping Pardeep early in the first half. If they are able to slow the pace of the game in the first 20 minutes, they might just surprise the Yodha.
