The UP Yodha has done enough to keep them in the hunt for the playoff. They did struggle mid-season but came back sharply due to the exploits of Pardeep Narwal and the rise of raider Rohit Tomar.
On the other hand, U Mumba did rise to reach some peaks mid-season but they seem to be totally fatigued. Their raid income has seen high inflation which has forced them to go on the defensive. This has led to their fall in the points table. They have 3 more games in all which they need to win if they aim to squeeze into the eliminators.
But they will be up against a tough UP Yodha whom they had defeated earlier in the season in a low-scoring game. But a lot has changed since that match for both teams as it will be an uphill task for U Mumba to take a backdoor entry into the playoff.
UP Yodha seems to have peaked at the right time. They were in a spot of bother mid-season as Pardeep Narwal did not fire in the first few matches. But as they say “Class is permanent and form is temporary”, Dubki King bounced back to slay all the critiques.
The Dubki King has scored 8 Super 10’s and 7 Super raids. He has started executing multi-raid points which have made life easy for Yodha.
The main issue with the Yodha is the drop in momentum. They have not been able to build the intensity over the last few weeks. Also, the Yodha has been a bit unimaginative in some games. They should have been street-smart but unknowingly they let the game slip away.
UP Yodha needs to overcome these issues at the earliest. They still have a few games where they can bounce back and hope to qualify for the playoff. Raider Surender Gill has been in top form with 132 raid points in 13 games. He missed the match against the Bengal Warriors earlier in the season and has not been part of the regular starting 7. But young raider Rohit Tomar has filled his shoes with some impressive performances.
The UP Yodha has conducted 309 successful team raids in 18 matches.
Unfortunately, they have a low success rate in team tackles as they have been able to execute just 161 successful team tackles in 18 games.
Another area of concern for the Yodha is the number of all-outs conceded. Though they have inflicted 30 all-outs, they have conceded 23. They have improved a lot in this area as they used to concede all-outs at crucial moments of the match. They have another 3 matches remaining in this double round-robin format as they look comfortably placed to qualify for the next round.
U Mumba was impressive in the initial half of the season. Without any big names, Mumba forged combinations of young raiders and defenders. They punched above their weight which helped them to move to the 4th spot in the points table. But as they played more games, they fatigued and started looking like a one-dimensional team. Currently, they are placed 7th as they struggle to qualify for the playoff.
They have a good team of raiders in the form of Ghuman Singh, Jai Bhagwan, Ashish, and Iranian Haiderali Ekrami. Defender Rinku has executed some fine tackles with bandages all over his face in some matches. He has been the most successful Mumba defender with 48 successful tackles in 16 matches.
U Mumba may have the second-best average successful team tackles per match but they need to be precise and lethal against stronger opponents.
U Mumba has executed 24 Super tackles which is an impressive figure. Unfortunately, they have lost 4 out of their last 5 matches which has created doubts about their future. They lost to the Haryana Steelers in their last game which was again due to the inability of their raiders to score against quality defenders. Defender Rinku scored 6 points while the top score by any Mumba raider was also 6. U Mumba was leading by 1 point at halftime, but they could earn just 2 tackle points in the second half which kept them behind the Steelers.
Mumba did manage to beat the Bengal Warriors before this game. Raiders Ghuman and Ashish both scored a Super 10 each while Rinku scored another Hi 5. But their defense was weak in this high-scoring match.
U Mumba needs to win this match at any cost to keep their hopes alive. They had defeated the Yodha earlier in the season with some tactical brilliance. But they are still struggling to find their form.
U Mumba has their backs to the wall as they take on a strong UP Yodha while their defense seems to be struggling. Mumba is heavily reliant on their left corner Rinku who has been a one-man army.
Raiders Ghuman Singh and Ashish have been good but their team needs the best from them. One of the will score a Super 10 as U Mumba will be sharp in the first half. Left Corner Mohit and defender Rahul Sethpal will try to trap Pardeep Narwal but they will not be totally successful. Mumba may lose their steam in the second half as they will also concede an all-out.
UP Yodha will use the services of raider Surender Gill along with Rohit Tomar. But their main weapon Pardeep Narwal will be supercharged as he will score a Super 10 as well as a Super raid. All-rounder Gurdeep will trouble the Mumba raiders as Hulk Sandeep Narwal will make life difficult for U Mumba in the second half.
UP Yodha will win this match as they will avenge their earlier defeat to U Mumba.
UP Yodha will win.
