With just 3 victories in 16 matches, UP Yodha are more or less out of their tournament. They haven’t won a single match in their last 5 outings. Getting hammered by different opponents has become a norm for them. U Mumba seem to be traversing a similar path as they have not won since the last few weeks. They are placed 9th in the points table with just 6 victories from 16 matches. U Mumba too is almost out of the tournament. Mumba still have an outside chance to make it to the next round. But they need to beat UP by a huge margin.
UP Yodha lost to Dabang Delhi in their last match. Though Gagana Gowda has emerged as the new kid on the block, UP has lost the will to win. Their losing streak has reached massive proportions as the Yodha has not been able to rejuvenate itself. They will be up against the struggling U Mumba. This will be a perfect opportunity to play party spoilers. U Mumba lost to the Tamil Thalaiva in their last match by a huge margin of 16 points. Both teams have a fragile defense. Mumba defeated UP in their last encounter of this season. With very little hopes to qualify for the next round, both teams will be aggressive as well as wayward.
The Yodha’s were top contenders of season 9. They had a wonderful run through the season as the deadly duo of Pardeep Narwal and Surinder Gill toppled every defense that challenged them. Pardeep Narwal scored 220 raid point from 22 games thus establishing himself as one of the greatest players in PKL. But season 10 has been a rollercoaster for them. Pardeep Narwal could not recreate the magic of season 9 while Surinder Gill was out of action post 10 games. Hence the UP Yodha has been directionless since then. With just 3 victories from 16 matches, the Yodha finds itself at the 11th spot in the points table. The UP Yodha carried the effervescence till their 8th or 9th match. But since then, they have just disintegrated.
Former PKL stalwart Jasvir Singh is at the helm of affairs as their coach. He is known for nurturing young talent The UP Yodha had a wonderful mix of raiders, defenders and all-rounders. They included specialists like right raider Gangana Gowda and left raider Shivam Chaudhary. Gagana Gowda has been impressive with a Super 10 in 7 matches. But Pardeep Narwal has been neutralized by most of the teams and he is not able to score freely. UP Yodha lost to Dabang Delhi in their last match. It was almost one way traffic as Gagana Gowda scored 12 points while defender Sumit earned a Hi 5. None of the other team members could contribute. The Yodha was all-out twice in the match as they lost by a margin of 9 points.

Former Champions U Mumba have hit a rough patch in season. After winning just 6 out of their 16 matches, Mumba is placed 9th in the points table. They have not won any of their last 5 matches with the best result being a TIE against the Puneri Paltan. This was a very good result for U Mumba who gave a tough fight to one of the best teams of the season. It was expected that they rise from the ashes post this match. Unfortunately, the lost to the Gujarat Giants after this match. Mumba faltered against the Tamil Thalaiva in their next bout as their opponents slammed 50 team points. U Mumba seems to be directionless at this moment. Neither they have big names nor have they been able to deceive their opponents.
Almost 50% of their squad is raiders which clearly indicates their modus operandi this season. Iranian coach Gholamreza Mazandarani bought raider Guman Singh at 85 lakhs during the auctions. Guman Singh and Jai Bhagwan form the backbone of U Mumba as both had a decent season last year. But the Mumba coach had to introduce Iranian youngster Zafardanesh as their back up raider. As Guman Singh started delivering, Zafardanesh lost his form. They also had to replace defender Girish Ernak very early in the season. Though Rinku Singh was one of their best defenders in this season, he is out of action. Defenders Sombir and Bittu have displayed some grit but captain Surender Singh has been totally out of form.
U Mumba lost to the Tamil Thalaiva by a margin of 16 points. Though Guman Singh scored a super 10, the Mumba defense was fragile. U Mumba trailed by 10 points by half-time. Such was the domination of the Thalaiva that Mumba conceded an all-out very early in the match. They could not match the intensity of the men in yellow. The second half was equally ruthless as Mumba suffered a couple of all-outs as they lost the match. Can they recover in time as they take on UP Yodha. Though the Yodha is struggling, U Mumba has run out of ideas. Their defense is in total tatters. New comers Shanmugam and Gokulakannan have displayed some raw tackling skills, the team effort is missing. U Mumba has the tendency to start a snail’s pace every season. They are not able match the speed of their opponents and this has amplified their fall. U Mumba defeated UP Yodha in their first encounter of this season. Mumba will have to repeat the same performance and earn vital points so that they stay in contention for the next round.
Placed 11th in the points table, UP Yodha are on Mission Impossible. They will be up against U Mumba who have performed below average. Pardeep Narwal looks done and dusted for the season as he has not been able to score in the last few matches. Young raider Gagana Gowda will be refreshing as he will score a Super 10. Defenders Sumit and Hitesh will trouble U Mumba in the first half. But UP will lose intensity post half-time.
Nothing much different can be expected from U Mumba whose defense has been extremely fragile. Defenders Bittu and Shanmugam will be aggressive initially but overall the Mumba defense will leak points. Raider Guman Singh will score a Super 10 but he may not get enough support. Both teams will leak points due to unforced errors. The team which conceded the least number of all-outs will win. Expect lots of fireworks.
