Best Betting App for the CPL

You have to search for the best cricket betting apps, similarly to how you have to look for the leading cricket betting sites. Once again, this can be pretty tiresome, as the market is filled with countless betting apps that seem very functional and practical at first.

Unfortunately, plenty of them aren’t, so it’s best to rely on online reviews from experts like us. We’ve been in the field for many years and know precisely what a CPL betting app needs to have to be a worthwhile investment for a punter like you.

We’ve researched and found a few fantastic betting apps perfect for CPL punters. These cover the CPL extensively every year and offer competitive odds on a wide range of markets for each match. For example, the 10CRIC app provides full support for Indian players, many payment methods, and, quite possibly, the best cricket coverage.

The hugely popular Betway app is not just among the best CPL betting apps but also one of the leading sports betting apps for Indian punters. It has some of the best odds on the market and a great loyalty program.

We shouldn’t forget about the Parimatch app either, as it offers incredibly secure payments for Indians, as well as great coverage of various sports, including cricket.

The apps we recommend are of the highest quality and impeccable functionality on any Android and iOS device. Moreover, all of them cover everything their desktop versions do — as a result, you can make a bet on the go whenever you need to.

What Is the Caribbean Premier League?

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL or CPLT20 for short) is the leading annual Twenty20 cricket tournament played between six teams from the Caribbean. It began in 2013 as a replacement for the Caribbean Twenty20, which lasted only four seasons.

The CPL is held every year, and it hosts the following six franchises:

  1. Barbados Royals
  2. Guyana Amazon Warriors
  3. Jamaica Tallawahs
  4. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
  5. Saint Lucia Kings
  6. Trinbago Knight Riders

The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the only franchise that hasn’t been in the CPL since its start. They came as the replacement for the Antigua Hawksbills from the 2015 season onwards.

If CPL betting interests you, knowing the basics of the tournament is essential. The CPL functions according to the double round-robin format and playoffs. In other words, there’s the league followed by the playoffs stage.

During the league stage, every team gets to play ten matches, with only three being at home. It may seem unusual, but it was made so that every team could play in a single location for five consecutive matches. The whole tournament then moves to a different location, and it’s always one of the home fields of the participating teams.

At the end of the stage, four top-ranked teams advance to the playoffs consisting of two semi-final matches and the finals. A total of 33 matches are played over the whole month the tournament lasts.

In the 2021 season, the top-ranked teams that entered the semifinals were the Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Saint Lucia Kings. The Kings qualified for the finals after beating the Riders. They got to play against the Patriots, who entered the finals after defeating the Warriors narrowly. The Patriots then took home the champion trophy, their first ever.

What Are the CPL Rules?

The CPL rules are simple, as they are the same as the official ICC Twenty20 cricket rules. However, if you want to start with CPL betting online, you need to hear about a couple of specific alterations that make this tournament unique.

Namely, each match has a maximum of 15 overs per inning, but in the first week's matches, there are only 12. Also, each match has to start on schedule, and every team must have at least 7 players. If they have fewer than 11, overs are deducted from their batting quota until the 11th player enters.

The CPL has no leg-yes, but the batsman can still be run-out by the umpire, while the maximum number of overs per bowler is three.

Interestingly, whenever there’s a tie, a super over will be played, where there’s no toss and the team that batted the second at the start of the game gets to bat first.

In the end, it’s also worth mentioning that free hits are always given for no balls.

CPL Teams

The teams participating in the CPL have been the same ever since the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots replaced the Antigua Hawksbills in 2015. However, each year sees some new players and exciting performances by all six squads. Let’s take a look at each of them before the next season starts.

Barbados Royals

The Barbados Royals are two-time CPL champions. However, they were the worst team last year, so it’s unclear what they’ll do this time around.

They have several new names that might spice things up, including David Miller, Teddy Bishop, Rahkeem Cornwall, Devon Thomas, Quinton de Kock, Azam Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (who’ll be temporarily replaced by Harry Tector), Obed McCoy, Corbin Bosch, and Ramon Simmonds.

As for the old squad, it consists of Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Justin Greaves, Hayden Walsh Jr., Joshua Bishop, Oshane Thomas, and Nyeem Young.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Always the runners-up, never the champions — this should likely be the description of the Guyana Amazon Warriors. They’ve managed to nab the second spot five times out of the nine seasons they’ve played. Unfortunately, the 2021 season wasn’t very good for them, as they finished in the fourth spot, even after coming in second in the league stage.

They have a bunch of new names in their lineup for this season, including Colin Ingram, Jermaine Blackwood, Keemo Paul, Paul Stirling, Mathew Nandu, Junior Sinclair, Shakib al Hasan, Heinrich Klaasen, Shai Hope, Tabraiz Shamsi, Veerasammy Permaul, and Ronsford Beaton.

As for the old players, they still have Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie, Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd, and Odean Smith.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Two-time champions, Jamaica Tallawahs, have been one of the worst teams over the last few seasons, and in 2021, they only managed to finish second-to-last. Hopefully, their performance will be better this year.

That might be the case, especially with the newcomers such as Brandon King, Kirk McKenzie, Fabian Allen, Imad Wasim, Raymon Reifer, Jamie Merchant, Shamar Springer, Amir Jangoo, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mohammad Amir, Migael Pretorius, and Nicholson Gordon.

The old squad consisted of Joshua James, Kennar Lewis, Chris Green, Rovman Powell, and Shamarh Brooks.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the current champions of the league. In fact, they won their first title in 2021, after years of relatively poor results.

This year, they are hoping to retain the title with new signups that include Darren Bravo, Sherfane Rutherford, Keacy Carty, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dwaine Pretorius, Dewald Brevis, Qasim Akram, Jaden Carimichael, Andre Fletcher, Izharulhaq Naveed, and Kelvin Pitman.

As for the old players on the team, the list consists of Evin Lewis, Dwayne Bravo, Dominic Drakes, Sheldon Cottrell, Joshua Da Silva, and Jon-Russ Jaggesar.

St Lucia Kings

St Lucia Kings have never managed to win the CPL title, but they’ve been one of the best Caribbean Premier League teams lately. In fact, they were the runners-up for the last two years.

Their latest squad consists of Faf du Plessis, Roston Chase, Johnson Charles, Kesrick Williams, Alzarri Joseph, Mark Deyal, Jeavor Royal, Tim David, David Wiese, Scott Kuggeleijn, Matthew Forde, Leroy Lugg, Preston McSween, Larry Edwards, Ackeem Auguste, and Rivaldo Clarke.

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Trinbago Knight Riders come from Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago. They are the best-performing team in the CPL, having won four titles — the last one in 2020. They performed well in 2021; however, despite finishing first in the league stage, they ended the season in the third spot after the playoffs.

The current squad has many new names, including Shaaron Lewis, Andre Russell, Seekkuge Prasanna, Nicholas Pooran, Leonardo Julien, Tim Seifert, Mahesh Theekshana, and Terrence Hinds.

The list of retained players features Tion Webster, Colin Munro, Kieron Pollard, Khary Pierre, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, Ali Khan, and Anderson Phillip.

CPL Predictions and Tips

Like all great cricket leagues, the CPL is filled with talented players and successful teams. That’s why every punter must rely on high-quality CPL predictions and tips, which will help them place better and more successful bets.

As always, we’ve made sure to ask various top cricket specialists to give us their opinions on who’ll win the upcoming season, which players will land the top batsman and top bowler titles, and so much more.

We use all of that info to compile CPL betting tips and give you the best predictions we can. This valuable information can help you make the right bets and win much more than an average punter. So, make sure you’ve looked through them to find what you need to improve your betting strategy.

However, in the end, nothing is set in stone. That’s why you’ll have to rely on your knowledge and intuition, the latest odds, and the tips and predictions we give you to make the best possible wagers.

Which Team Will Win CPL 2022?

It’s hard to provide good CPL tips when you have so many great teams, as is the case with this notable Twenty20 league. We’ve had four champions so far, and one of them, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, has only been added to this impressive list after its unexpected 2021 campaign.

The Trinbago Knight Riders still have the most champion titles — four of them, with the remaining two winners being the Barbados Royals and the Jamaica Tallawahs.

The CPL betting predictions and the latest odds for this year are clear — the biggest favorites are the four-time champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders. The odds also show that the other three previous league winners have decent chances of securing the CPL title once again.

Who Will Be the Top Batsman for CPL 2022?

Watching every match in the upcoming season will be interesting, especially with so many great batsmen in the mix. Naturally, it won’t be easy to select the top one for the entire tournament, but a few notable names are certainly the likeliest candidates.

For instance, there’s the talented batsman playing for the Barbados Royals, Shai Hope. The Guyana Amazon Warriors also have two excellent batsmen — the keeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran and the vastly experienced left-handed Shimron Hetmyer.

But that’s not all. You should also consider backing Haider Ali, the young Pakistan batsman from the Jamaica Tallawahs, Evin Lewis from St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Andre Fletcher from the Saint Lucia Kings.

Who Will Be the Top Bowler for CPL 2022?

It’s hard to make accurate predictions early on, but we have a few names you should consider.

One of the safest bets is certainly Romario Shepherd from the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who prominently displayed his skills last year. The same goes for his teammate Odean Smith and Dominic Drakes from St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Among the likely top bowlers, you’ll also find the highly experienced Mohammad Amir, the left-armed bowler from the Barbados Royals, and the West-Indian pace bowler from Saint Lucia Kings, Alzarri Joseph.
