BCCI Unveils 10-Point Directive for Players as Coach Aims to End 'Star Culture

India’s men's senior national team players have been enjoying special treatment for many years. There were no specific rules regarding their family and staff that accompanied them during matches. Also, star players who get a lot of offers for shooting videos and commercials would misuse their name and fame for personal gain during a trip to a cricket match.
That is why the Indian cricket team’s current coach, Gautam Gambhir, has proposed a 10-Point Directive, which BCCI has approved. The directive adds rules and regulations for players, which define how a player should behave before, during, and after the match so that they do not negatively impact the reputation of India’s cricket team.
Here is What the New Policy Says
The new policy by BCCI includes 10 points that all the senior men's cricket players in the Indian cricket team must follow from now on. These points are as follows:
Domestic Match Mandate
Players must participate in domestic matches to stay eligible for national selection and central contracts. This helps maintain fitness and supports talent growth in the domestic circuit.
Traveling With Family
Players are expected to travel with the team. Separate family travel arrangements are discouraged, except in rare cases approved by team management.
Baggage Restrictions
Players must adhere to strict luggage limits on tours. Excess baggage costs will need to be borne by the players themselves. Players can have 120 KG baggage for international tours, and for shorter international tours, the baggage can be only 120 KG. For domestic tours as well, the baggage can not exceed 120 KG.
Personal Staff Limitations
Personal staff like managers and assistants are generally not allowed on tours unless specifically approved by the BCCI.
Equipment Transport Rules
Equipment or personal items being sent to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru must be coordinated with team management. Players bear the cost of separate arrangements.
Practice Attendance
Players must attend all scheduled practice sessions and travel together to the venue, ensuring team commitment and discipline.
No Personal Shoots
During series or tours, players cannot engage in personal photo or video shoots. This ensures the focus remains on cricket and team responsibilities.
Family Visits Policy
For tours exceeding 45 days, players can have one family visit lasting up to two weeks. Accommodation will be shared, but other expenses are the player's responsibility.
Participation in BCCI Events
Players must attend official BCCI shoots, events, and functions to fulfill organizational commitments and stakeholder expectations.
Tour Completion Rules
Even if matches finish earlier than scheduled, players are expected to stay with the team until the tour officially concludes, promoting team bonding and cohesion. To make the most of these directives and understand player performance, cricket betting prediction for today's match can provide valuable insights into team strategies and individual contributions.
