Big Names Flock To The Hundred in 2025

The Hundred struggled to attract some international big name players in its first years but now looks to be one of the biggest franchise tournaments on the circuit with the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Maxwell, Alyssa Healy and Anrich Nortje having put themsleves forward for the 2025 draft!
That takes place on 12 March when London Spirit will have the first pick in the men's, which could see them take Maxwell back to Lord's, whereas Birmingham Phoenix will go first in the women's competition.
The tournament then gets underway on 5 August so there will be plenty of cricket to go under the bridge before then.
In this article, we look at some of the marquee names who are in the draft and look at where else they could make an impact before the 2025 Hundred begins.
Rachin Ravindra - ICC Champions Trophy and IPL
The left-handed New Zealand all-rounder comes to life in the big tournaments and hit his second century of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to secure his side's place in Sunday's final against India. His average in ICC tournaments is now over 69 compared to only 26.13 in non-ICC internationals with all five of his ODI centuries coming against different opposition.
The Black Caps will need him at his best if they are to come through as underdogs in Dubai against the all-conquering Indians!

Post Champions Trophy, Ravindra will turn his attentions to the 2025 Indian Premier League where he will be looking to improve on his return of only one half-century for Chennai Super Kings last season.
If he can do that then not only will he set himself up nicely ahead of The Hundred, but he could also play a big part in CSK claiming their sixth IPL title. At the moment, they are priced at 6.50 (Dafabet) to win the tournament, second only to favourites Mumbai Indians at 5.50 (Dafabet).
Glenn Maxwell - Champions Trophy semi-finalist and switch to Punjab Kings
It was one of the all-time great innings from Glenn Maxwell which kept Australia in the hunt for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, a tournament which they eventually won, but there will be no repeat in 2025 after India beat them in Tuesday's semi-final.
As a result, the big-hitting all-rounder will turn his attentions to the 2025 IPL when he will be representing Punjab Kings once again after previous stints from 2014-2017 and 2020. And many pundits think this could be the year for Punjab with Maxwell linking up with captain Shreyas Iyer and fellow-Australian Marcus Stoinis.
Other big names in The Hundred draft
In both the men's and women's Hundred drafts, there are some top performing players with the likes of Alyssa Healy, David Warner, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa and Sophie Devine all throwing their hats into the ring.
There are also two players at opposite ends of their careers who will be hoping to be picked up as well. James Anderson will be 43 when the tournament begins but he still looks to be in fine shape and could well end up playing against or even alongside Rocky Flintoff, son of former England legen Andrew, who is still only 16 years of age!
Whoever is picked up, this promises to be another exciting season of The Hundred and we also have plenty of top level cricket to look forward to ahead of it.
