BPL 2024-25 - Key Bowlers to Watch out

As the year comes to an end, a new season of cricket leagues has taken centre stage across the globe. Bangladesh cricket will witness the beginning of the new season of the Bangladesh Premier League on 30th December with the first fixture taking place between Durbar Rajshahi and Fortune Barishal. BPL 2024-25 will be the 12th season of the league as the first season took place in February 2012. In these 12 years, a lot has changed between all the franchises and this year as well, some new teams and players have been introduced to make it more thrilling and exciting.

Comilla Victorians were the most successful team in the league with 4 championship wins and a total of 5 final appearances. Dhaka Capitals were their arch-rivals with 3 wins and a total of 5 final appearances. Comilla Victorians are not part of the competition anymore and that gives Dhaka Capitals a major advantage for the new season.

When it comes to Bangladesh cricket and BPL, the bowlers play an important role because their pitches are always inclined to support the bowling unit. All the franchises who are part of the competition make sure to sign some of the best bowling technicians in order to gain an advantage in the tournament.

1) Shakib Al Hasan - Chittagong Kings

Bangladesh Premier League is tasteless without the local star and spin legend Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib has been in the news for all the reasons in 2024. At first, because of the political turmoil in the country, he missed out on his farewell Test and later ICC dismissed him from international cricket because of his controversial bowling action. However. Shakib is available to play in the T20 cricket leagues and in BPL 2024-25, he will be making his first public appearance after an absence of more than 6 months. He is the leading wicket-taker in the history of BPL and was teh 2nd highest wicket-taker in the league last year.

2) Shaheen Shah Afridi - Fortune Barishal

Pakistan’s intimidating pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has been through lot of ups and downs in 2024. Even after being away from national side on few occasions, Shaheen’s aura remains powerful and his presence in Fortune Barishal will give the team an extar edge in the pace unit. BPL 2024-25 is going to be the first season for Pakistan’s pace sensation and he will be expected to make a memorable impact in the league.

3) Shoriful Islam - Durbar Rajshahi

Darbar Rajshahi is a newly introduced team in the BPL and they will be eyeing for a fabulous performance form their pace sensation Shoriful Islam. In the previous edition of the league, Shoriful Islam came out as the highest wicket-taker. He has immense experience bowling on Bangladesh pitches and that makes him a key player for Durbar Rajshahi.

4) Reece Topley - Sylhet Strikers

Reece Topley is an active name when it comes to T20 cricket leagues across the globe. The 30-year-old has not seen much success with England in international cricket but he has the required talent and capability to stun the opposition in any situation. Topley is playing his first season in the Bangladesh Premier League and will be hoping for a good start.

5) Saurabh Netravalkar - Rangpur Riders

During the T20 World Cup 2024, one name that made headlines with his bowling was Saurabh Netravalkar from Uthe SA. He has been a solid performer in T20 cricket leagues across and has witnessed a sudden rise in the international cricket as well. Saurabh will appear for his first-ever BPL season this year with Rangpur Riders.
