Chasing Sachin Tendulkar's record? Joe Root Says Milestones Don't Motivate Him

Pakistan is all set to host England for a 3-match Test series. The Test series between the two nations will be part of the World Test Championship. Pakistan has very minimal chances to reach the final game but England winning the series will help them to reach closer to the finals scheduled to take place next year.

Joe Root, England’s batting star in the red-ball format, has been a match-winner for England in the recent Test fixtures. With every fixture Root has been part of, he is breaking records and reaching close to achieving a milestone.
Root has already surpassed Sir Alastair Cook’s record by scoring a twin hundred against Sri Lanka in the recently held Test series. Now, he is just 70 runs away, surpassing Cook in total number of runs.
With that, Joe Root is also reaching close to the record of Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 15921 runs in Test cricket. There are no other active batters who have even 10000 runs on their name.
In a recently held interview, Joe Root expressed on how he keeps his focus during the game and does not think about personal milestones.
I think, more than anything, you judge yourself based on how many games you can affect and how many games you can win for the team,” Root explained. The big driver for me is how many times I can contribute to winning games for England.” said Root.

Joe Root has a lot of Test cricket left in his career and he clarified the same during the interview. “I see myself playing Test cricket for a lot longer. It’s not like I am going to get to a certain number or mark and stop,” said Root on his future in test cricket.
