The five time IPL champions and one of the most dominant teams in the history of Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings made some intresting and smart buys in the IPL auction held in Saudi Arabia. While some players got their much deserved home coming the men in yellow had to let go off some of their match winners which they will be pretty much disappointed with. Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, here is a look at Chennai Super Kings Squad for the upcoming season.
Ashwin-Jadeja Duo is Back
Chennai Super King is always a favorite in every IPL season. Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, the team created a different legacy in the tournament. Since the beginning, the team has established itself as a front-runner in the tournament. In the last year, Ruturaj Gaikwad took the captaincy and a new era started in the franchise.
The franchise made a huge deal by bringing the Ashwin-Jadeja duo back. Ravindra Jadeja was already retained in the squad. But the CSK management is a masterstroke. Chennai Super Kings secured R Ashwin for 9.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. This marks his second tenure with CSK. Ashwin first played for the team in 2009 and contributed to their title wins in 2010 and 2011.
CSK utilized the RTM card to retain Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. Additionally, they strengthened their squad by signing wicketkeeper-batter Rahul Tripathi. These acquisitions highlight CSK’s focus on building a balanced team with experienced and versatile players, ensuring they have strong options for both batting and bowling in the upcoming season.
Noor Ahmad a Perfect Fit for the Super Kings
Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad became CSK's most expensive buy in the IPL 2025 mega auction, securing him for 10 crore. Noor had a solid stint with Gujarat Titans, where he impressed with his performances. When Gujarat released him, CSK quickly seized the opportunity to add him to their squad. In addition to Noor, CSK also signed Khaleel Ahmed for 4.8 crore and Vijay Shankar for 1.2 crore. These additions strengthen CSK’s bowling attack and provide valuable depth to their squad for the upcoming season.
Focus on Seam Bowling All-rounders
Chennai Super Kings began Day 2 by securing English all-rounder Sam Curran. They further strengthened their squad with overseas additions Nathan Ellis and Jamie Overton. Among domestic talents, CSK welcomed Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary, and Deepak Hooda, showcasing a balanced approach to team-building.
CSK's focus on nurturing uncapped players, with signings like Ramakrishna Ghosh, Andre Siddharth, and Vansh Bedi, remained evident. New Zealand batter Devon Conway joined for 6.25 crore, bolstering their top order. All-rounder Rachin Ravindra, acquired for 4 crore, adds versatility. Uncapped talents Anshul Kamboj and Gurjapneet Singh were signed for 3.40 crore and 2.20 crore, respectively, injecting fresh energy into the squad. CSK's strategic blend of experience and young talent promises a well-rounded roster.
