Gautam Gambhir's appointment as India head coach a 'Done Deal'
Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders is reportedly set to become the next head coach of the Indian cricket team. Amidst the claims of Gambhir being approached for the same by the BCCI, a report of Cricbuzz claims it to be a done deal. As most of the foreign coaches back out due to the hectic 10 months cricketing schedule that team India has ahead of them and more of cricketing action in the next three years. Gautam Gambhir is the only ideal candidate out of all the applications that BCCI recieved for the post of the Indian Head Coach.
Gautam Gambhir’s Appointment as India's Head coach is Inevitable
The stellar performance of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 once again reinstated the brilliance of Gautam Gambhir as mentor. While KKR won the third IPL title after 10 years, Lucknow Super Giants entered the IPL playoffs for two consecutive seasons under Gambhir. No wonder, Gambhir became the frontrunner when BCCI called for applications for the role of head coach of the Indian cricket team.
Meanwhile, a report in Cribuzz claimed that a, "very high-profile owner of an IPL franchise, who is very close to the BCCI top brass" revealed that Gambhir’s appointment as the next Indian cricket team coach is a "done deal and the announcement will come soon". The report also mentioned that a "high profile commentator" informed how serious efforts are being made to seal the deal with Gautam Gambhir. If Gautam Gambhir becomes the heead of the Indian team then the cricket betting odds of team India winning the upcoming test series against England, Australia, New Zealand and the 2025 WTC will all be in the favour of the Indian cricket team.
BCCI Keen in Appointing Indian Coach
The report, also mentioned that the negotiations are still on "between the two parties and, perhaps, with some others too." Gambhir chose to remain silent on the matter, and reportedly, answered with a shrug of the shoulders and a smile while asked by some of the KKR members.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary already rejected claims of the board approaching any former Australian cricketer to become Rahul Dravid’s successor. He clearly said, "Neither I nor the BCCI have approached any former Australian cricketer with a coaching offer. The reports circulating in certain media sections are completely incorrect."
The statement further added, "Finding the right coach for our national team is a meticulous and thorough process. We are focused on identifying individuals who possess a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have risen through the ranks."
