Glenn Maxwell - Australia’s white-ball specialist, is eyeing to make his comeback in the Test format for Australia. He has taken the first step by making himself available for Australia’s Second XI four-day competition.
Maxwell has been named in the 12-men squad of Victoria Second XI and the team is scheduled to play Queensland at the Junction Oval on Monday. Victoria Second XI has won the title only once in the 2004-05 season since the competition began in 1999.
The presence of Glenn Maxwell in the team will be a major boost for the team and it will give them an advantage for the competition. Maxwell will be eyeing to be part of the national squad which is scheduled to play a Test tour against Sri Lanka next year.
Victoria’s coach Chris Rogers expressed his happiness about Maxwell’s availability for the team and said "This is an opportunity for us, We've got a lot of young players who are playing, and anytime you get to throw in someone with that experience and talk about batting and fielding and strategy, that's great for us as well."
Glenn Maxwell was last seen playing the red-ball format for Australia in 2017. He was part of 2 Test fixtures in 2017 and scored 100 runs at an average of 33.33 and a strike rate of 55.86.
