Hong Kong Sixes 2024: Uthappa Named Indian Team Captain

The memorable Hong Kong Sixes tournament is all set to make a comeback. After a hiatus of nearly 7 years, the world now gears up to see the pint-sized tournament take off in a blazing fashion. Hong Kong Sixes started in the year 1992 and was decommissioned in 2017. But the news of its revival has brought delight to the fans and the supporters alike. The tournament will comprise 12 teams, each of which will contain 6 members. It will be held over the course of three days from November 1 to November 3. Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground is chosen as the sole venue to host this tournament.
An Overview of Indian Squad
India has partaken in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament and the team will be spearheaded by Robin Uthappa. The rest of the squad members include Bharat Chipli, Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem, Shreevats Goswami, and Stuart Binny. The Indian team has some big names added to the lineup and we can thus expect to see some sizzling fireworks from them. India has already won the title in 2005 and will be aiming to push for their second title win
The Hong Kong Sixes tournament will consist of 29 matches in total. 12 teams will be divided into 4 pools comprising 3 teams each who will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Quarterfinal phase while the winners of the quarterfinals will enter the Cup semifinals. The teams that end up on the losing side in the quarterfinals will compete in the Plate semifinals.
Furthermore, the team placed in the bottom position in each pool will play in the Bowl Competition. Moreover, a Women's Exhibition Match is scheduled to take place on the concluding day of the tournament in honor of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
