ICC Revealed Nominees for Women’s Player of the Month!!
Finally, the International Cricket Council has dropped the official nominees for the Women's Player of the Month title for November. Interestingly, match prediction enthusiasts had already highlighted these players as ones to watch, based on their recent performances.
While the fans were speculating on some of the big names to pop out on the list, ICC's choice seems to be a bit different. For November 2024, we have three extraordinary stars who have impressed the fans with their tenacity and match-winning efforts. So, let's reveal the list:
#1 Danni Wyatt-Hodge: England
How can a player with Hodge in her name disappoint? Danni Wyatt-Hodge is the top performer in November 2024, showcasing solid batting skills in England's South Africa campaign. Her incredible performance with the bat complemented her team’s 3-0 T20I series victory against South Africa.
She smashed 142 runs at a mind-boggling average of 71 and an amazing strike rate of 163.21. Hodge's entry into the South Africa series was not that great as she managed to score just 11 runs in the first game. But as cricket is known as the game of comebacks, she stormed back with a match-winning 78-match number two. Later Hodge scored an unbeaten 53 in the series finale.
#2 Nadine de Klerk: South Africa
Nadine de Klerk is just a beast on the field. Representing South Africa, she has got the eyeballs of millions with her versatility during her team's decisive T20I series thumping of England. Undoubtedly, she has been the thread that connects South African teams with wins. Displaying exceptional consistency with the bat and the ball, she has made it to the list of the top Women's cricket stars. Nadine has not just proved her worth in International cricket, but she is a match-winner in franchise cricket too. Playing for the Brisbane Heat team in WBBL, she is setting new benchmarks.
De Klerk amassed 80 runs with a remarkable strike rate of 135.59 and an average of 80 in the recent T20i series. Her undefeated 29 and 2/20 bowling stint in the first Twenty20 International set the tone for the series. In the second match, she followed it up with 32 not out and another two-wicket haul. Thanks to these incredible performances, first she made it to the list of the top performers of the series, and then to ICC's November nominees for the Women Players of the Month.
#3 Sharmin Akhter: Bangladesh
While the Bangladeshi Men's team is slipping down in ICC rankings, the Women's team is showering absolute class. In the recent clash with Ireland, the team performed brilliantly, and a name that's on every Bangladeshi tough is Sharmin Akhter. She played a pivotal role with her heroic batting in two matches against Ireland.
Talking about stats, Sharmin Akhter scored 139 runs at an average of 69.50 and a strike rate of 91.44. She just missed her maiden ODI century by 4 runs in the opening games. However, her knock of 96 pushed the team to a 154-run victory. In the second match, Sharmin again emerged as Miss Dependable, scoring crucial 43 runs for the team, guiding Bangladesh to a 2-0 series lead.
