ICC T20I Rankings: Arshdeep Joins Top 10, Hardik Climbs to No.3

On the back of his impressive performance in the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh, Arshdeep Singh has managed to skyrocket to the number 8 position in the ICC T20I bowling rankings. The Punjab-born paceman jumped by 8 spots after registering a ground-breaking performance on 3-14 to floor Bangladesh atrociously in the first T20I. He is now at par with South Africa’s Anrich Nortje who also shares the eighth spot with him in the T20I bowling rankings.
His exploits with the ball in this series have bettered his points tally which has now surged to 642 points. Arshdeep teamed up with Hardik to lead the Indian pace attack in the first T20I at Gwalior. The two ran riot with the new ball and did not allow the visitors to settle into any sort of rhythm.
Arshdeep Singh opened his account by dismissing Litton inside the first over of the match and then went on to castle Parvez Hossain Emon and dismiss Mustifizur Rahaman to wind up the Bangladesh tail. He was undoubtedly the pick of the bowlers for India in that game turning out to be the most economical of the lot (3.65 RPO). In his 3.5-over spell, only 14 runs were scored against him which included a solitary boundary.

Hardik returned figures of 1-26 in his four overs and sparkled with the bat during the run chase slamming an unbeaten 39 off just 16 deliveries to power India to a speedy run chase with 49 balls to spare. His all-round show with the bat and the ball has taken him to the number 3 position in the ICC T20I Bowling All-Rounder rankings. While Adil Rashid continues to solidify his spot at the top of the T20I bowling rankings, his countryman Liam Livingstone and Nepal’s Dipendra Airee acquire the top two T20I bowling all-rounder spots.
Arshdeep has long been a key figure for India in the shortest format. The youngster has featured in 56 T20I internationals for India and has snapped 87 wickets at a superb average of 18.35. Moreover, the 25-year-old also endured a prolific run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 finishing as the highest wicket-taker for India (ahead of Bumrah) with 17 wickets to name which included his record0breaking figures of 4-9 vs USA.
