India Edge Ahead After Day One In Birmingham

It was a fine day of Test cricket for the Edgbaston crowd on Wednesday and closed with the tourists, India, on 310/5 after Shubman Gill had lost the toss once again.
Ben Stokes had no hesitation in asking the tourists to bat first but India showed plenty of resolve, just as they did at Headingley, and made England's bowlers work hard throughout the day.
With the hosts happy to chase in the fourth innings, India will be wary of leaving any runs out in the middle in this first innings so we take a look at what day two, Thursday will bring!
Day 2 At Edgbaston
India begin the day as narrow favourites although the truth be told there is not much to choose between the two sides after Wednesday.

From being 211/5, the sixth wicket partnership between captain Shubman Gill and the experienced Ravindra Jadeja is already worth 99 and this could be crucial to how this second Test plays out.
As for England, they will not be too worried, even if India post 450+, and they will be looking to the likes of Josh Tongue to get an early wicket before rolling through the tail.
If the hosts can nip India out for under 350 then they will fancy their chances of having a first innings lead by the end of day two. We shall see!
