India Sets New Benchmark: Fastest Team 50 in Test Matches

India Sets New Benchmark: Fastest Team 50 in Test Matches

After losing two straight days to weather and with WTC points at stake, India were desperate to push for a result in the second Test. After restritcing Bangladesh to 233, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma blasted their way through and threw the Bangladeshi bowlers under the bus with their belligerent hitting. Jaiswal in particular, did the bulk of the damage at the top by smashing a brutal 72 (51). He got his innings underway by hitting three flourishing boundaries against Hasan Mahmud in his opening over.

He along with Rohit Sharma marched on and helped India register a galloping 51 runs inside the first 3 overs of the innings, the fastest-ever team fifty achieved by any team in Test format. The talented left-handed youngster played a wide range of shots around the ground and helped India knock off a major run of runs before reaching Tea. Although the Indian skipper was cleaned up by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Jaiswal looked secured against both spin and pace and churned runs at a swahhbuckling rate to get India in a position to surpass Bangaldesh’s total on Day 4.

Jaiswal & Co Put India in Command

Jaiswal and Rohit’s brutal carnage left Bangladesh bowlers gasping for breath. While Jasiwal was in the middle, it was raining boundaries every over. Realiszing that time was off the essence, Jaiswal complemented his skipper at the other end and put on a blazing 50-plus run stand in just a blink of an eye. The pair absolutely demolished the first three overs of pace from Mahmud and Khaled. The Bangladeshi skipper went from setting up an attacking field from ball number one to spreading out the field by the end of the third over. That fifty-plus stand at the top was also the fastest team fifty posted by any team in Test Cricket.

Following the departure of the Indian skipper, Jaiswal lowered down his scoring intensity just a touch against spin. But the 22-year-old youngster was quick to pounce on any loose deliveries and together with Gill, he took the attack to the Bangladesh spinners. Eventaully, the youngster notched up his fifty in just 30 balls becoming the only Indian batter to register a joint third fastest fifty. On the back of his scintillating performance, India cruised their way to 100 in only 10.1 overs thus making it the fastest Team hundred by any team in Test cricket. Subsequently, his flamboyant innings came to a close during the 15th over when Mahmud found a way to breach through his defences to castle him for 71.

KL Rahul Back to Form

KL Rahul then chipped in with a quick fire half century scoring 68 runs in 45 balls, unleashing the fearless approach smashing 7 fours and 2 sixes. Virat Kohli played second fiddle scoring 47 runs in 35 balls. India declared the innings at 285/9 gaining a lead of 52 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin then struck early in the 3rd innings as Bangladesh are in shatters at the end of the play on Day 4 reeling at 26/2 and trailing by 26 runs.

As we head into day 5, the match is well within the balance and the betting odds are highly in favour of India to win the match or the test match ending in a draw. Check out the cricket betting tips of India vs Bangladesh and all other matches on site.
