IPL 2025 - Major Setback for KKR as Their Big Names Get Injured Before the IPL Season

Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League have received a major setback as three of their key players are injured. Rinku Singh, Anrich Nortje, and Venkatesh Iyer are currently recovering from their respective injuries.

KKR are the defending champions in IPL 2025 as they won the previous edition. Before the IPL 2025 mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders retained their finisher Rinku Singh and purchased all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer from the auctions. During the mega auctions, they also signed Anrich Nortje to give their bowling unit a major boost.

An injury right before the beginning of the IPL season will impact the overall performance of these three players and the betting odds of Kolkata Knight Riders on trusted IPL betting apps in India.

Kolkata Knight Riders - Three Injured Players

1) Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh is a match-winner for team India in T20 international cricket and for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL.On multiple occasions, he has come out as the saviour for KKR in IPL 2024 and was a major contributor to the team’s success. He is currently part of the Indian squad against England in the T20 format but because of lower back spasms, he is out of action. There are no reports on his recovery yet and the KKR management is still waiting for a report from the BCCI medical team.

2) Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer is currently part of Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament. However, in a match, Iyer retired hurt because he twisted his ankle while batting for the team. KKR has invested INR 23.75 Crore in Venkatesh Iyer during the mega auctions and he is the most expensive player for the franchise. If he misses out on IPL 2025, it will be a huge disappointment for the player and for the team. It will also leave a huge void for Kolkata in their batting unit.

3) Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje has been in the news due to constant injuries and because of the same reason he has stayed away from the international circuit. The Proteas bowler recovered and made it back to the squad but he will be again out of action from ICC Champions Trophy due to a back injury. Kolkata Knight Riders are largely dependent on him in the pace unit for IPL 2025 but his absence will impact their performance in the league.
