Indian Premier League is always a priority for top quality cricketers from across the globe. It is a cash rich league but more than that it comes with a golden experience for the players who are part of it every year.

The IPL 2025 mega auction took place in November 2024, and after 3 and a half months of wait period, the league is all set to go on the floors. However, in these 3 and a half months of the period, there are a few players who have suffered unprecedented situations where they won’t be part of the league in the initial stages.

Missing out on the IPL league action creates a lot of imbalance for a player and for the squad. The initial matches are crucial for the team to build up the required confidence for the rest of the league stage. However, if a team comes to play with a void because of the absence of their key player, it might hamper their overall performance.

As we enter the new season of the Indian Premier League, we bring you a list of players who will miss out on the initial IPL action. Their absence will also impact the winning odds for the respective teams on the betting sites in India.

1) Mayank Yadav - Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants discovered a gem in their bowling as they gave a chance to Mayank Yadav to bowl. The ferocious pacer bowled the fastest ball in IPL history at a speed of 156.7 kmph. However, the youngster soon suffered and played only 4 fixtures in the league. As the new season was on the horizon, Lucknow Super Giants were expecting a good start from Mayank but the pacer has suffered a lumbar stress injury and he is currently in the nursing room to recover from the same. His unavailability in the team will impact the performance of Lucknow Super Giants in the first few weeks of the league.

2) Jasprit Bumrah - Mumbai Indians

India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has suffered consistent injuries in recent times. He has suffered constant back injuries and after the Border-Gavaskar trophy, Bumrah again suffered a back injury and missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. There is speculation that he might also miss out on the initial phase of the IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians must be devastated because of his absence as he is one of the key bowlers for the team and can build a momentum for the team for the rest of the season.

3) Hardik Pandya - Mumbai Indians

Another blow to Mumbai Indians will be the absence of Hardik Pandya for the first fixture. He is serving a fine for a slow over rate in the IPL 2024 fixture against Lucknow Super Giants. Mumbai Indians is all set to play their first fixture against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Speculations are that Suryakumar Yadav might lead the team because of his experience in the T20 international cricket.

4) Mitchell Marsh - Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have received another blow as Australia’s T20 skipper Mitchell Marsh will be missing out on the first few matches of the team. He is currently recovering from a back injury and won’t be playing in the first few fixtures. Lucknow Super Giants signed the Aussie T20 skipper for a price tag of INR 3.402 Crore from the IPL mega auctions for IPL 2025.

5) Josh Hazlewood - Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore signed Josh Hazlewood from the IPL 2025 mega auctions for a price tag of INR 12.50 Crore. The purpose was to strengthen their bowling unit for the 18th season of the league. However, the Aussie pacer has suffered a hip injury after the Border Gavaskar Trophy and hence he might not be available for a few weeks in the league.

IPL 2025 - Other Missing Players

Except for the names mentioned above, Jacob Bethel is another player who might miss out to make his debut in the league. Jacob Bethel has not received any clearance to participate in the league and he is still waiting to join the RCB camp. Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed Jacob Bethell from the mega auctions for a price of INR 2.60 Crore.
