IPL 2025 - Rajat Patidar Named Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain

In a surprise turn of events, Rajat Patidar was appointed as the new leader of Royal Challengers Bangalore before the start of IPL 2025 by the team management. After the release of Faf du Plessis from the team, there were speculations of Virat Kohli taking up the job again.

However, the RCB team management has shown trust in Rajat Patidar who has been associated with the franchise for the past 3 seasons. He is one of the best middle-order batters for the franchise at number 4. Patidar also carries strong credentials in India’s domestic cricket and can do wonders in the upcoming season of IPL.

The announcement took place during a press conference in the presence of team director Mo Bobat, head coach Andy Flower, and Patidar himself.

"I could speak for quite a long time about Rajat, but I've settled on three main things that I thought might be interesting to share," Flower said. "The first one is there's a calmness and a simplicity to Rajat that I think will stand him in really good stead as a leader and a captain, particularly in the IPL.”

Mo Bobat, during the press conference also confirmed that the team management thought of Virat Kohli for the captaincy duties. However, the final decision came upon Rajat Patidar.

Rajat Patidar will be the 8th captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore & it will be the first time he will be leading an IPL franchise. However, the 31-year-old has led Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 season and Vijay Hazare Trophy. His appointment as the RCB's new skipper will definitely impact the team’s winning odds of trusted IPL betting apps in India.

Under his leadership, Madhya Pradesh finished as a runner-up in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He will be expected to bring in the same value for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025.
