IPL 2025 - Teams with Best Pace-bowling Attack

In the previous edition, we witnessed some of the best batting action. However, the bowlers have always been the real backbone when it comes to the shortest format of cricket. A bowler is someone who has to be in the best shape in any situation and has to be consistent in every situation. Under pressure or not, a lot depends on the bowling unit of a team in T20 cricket.

1) Mumbai Indians

During the IPL 2025 mega auctions, Mumbai was actively seeking out some of the best pace bowlers from the draft. They already retained Jasprit Bumrah in the squad and that gives them a major advantage in the league. Bumrah is undoubtedly the best pacer in international cricket and he was the 3rd leading wicket-taker in the previous edition of the league.

With Jasprit Bumrah, Mumbai Indians also boast the presence of New Zealand’s Trent Boult who was signed by Mumbai for INR 12.50 crore. 

The third pace option will be the English pacer Reece Topley. He played his first IPL season in 2024 but appeared for only 4 fixtures while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In these 4 fixtures, Topley picked up 4 wickets in 4 matches at an economy of 9.43.

Mumbai Indians also have their skipper Hardik Pandya and former Chennai Super Kings player Deepak Chahar in the team. In case their primary attack fails, they can introduce Deepak Chahar in the middle of the tournament.

2) Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings retained only two players from the previous edition of the league. They had a big amount in their purse and during the mega auctions, Punjab was one of the most active franchises to build their squad.

Punjab Kings have the most lethal bowler in the world from the T20 format. Arshdeep Singh will be leading the pace attack for the Kings. He is the 4th highest wicket-taker in the T20 international cricket in 2024 currently and a weapon of mass destruction for Team India.

Another weapon for Punjab Kings will be the BBL star and Australia’s newly introduced pacer Xavier Bartlett. He was bought by the Punjab Kings for a price tag of INR Rs 80000 and 2025 will be the debut season of Bartlet in IPL.

Another full-time pace option for Punjab Kings will be New Zealand’s pace sensation Lockie Ferguson. He was bought by the Kings for a price tag of INR 2 Crore during the mega auctions.

With these three full-time pacers, Punjab Kings will also have Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, and Aaron Hardie in the team who will play the role of all-rounder in the team with the the idea to also bowl during the crucial hours of the game.

3) Sunrisers Hyderabad

The runner-ups from the previous edition of the Indian Premier League have also done well during the auctions. They didn't retain Bhuvneshwar Kumar but selected some of the best pacers from the draft.

Skipper Pat Cummins will be in the spotlight because of his pace attack as well. In the previous edition, He was the 9th highest wicket-taker in the league while also serving as the captain of the team.

Another star attraction for Sunrisers Hyderabad will be India’s very own pacer Mohammad Shami. Shami is currently struggling to recover from a knee injury but in recent domestic clashes, he has done exceptionally well.

Harshal Patel has not been a successful pacer when it comes to T20 international but he has done exceptionally well in IPL. He was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024 and that makes him another lethal pace option for Punjab Kings.
