IPL Auction 2026: Top 5 Overseas All-Rounders to watch out

It’s been a wild couple of weeks of IPL trades, retentions, and releases, and with the IPL Auction 2026 approaching, teams are gearing up to make a major splash. KKR and CSK, in particular, head into the auction with huge purses and a clear intent to build a settled lineup for the future.

Both sides are looking to fill the void in their all-rounder department: for KKR, the retirement and non-retention of Andre Russell leaves a significant gap in the middle order, while for CSK, the trade of Ravindra Jadeja has opened up a slot for an overseas spin-bowling all-rounder who can also strike big down the order.

Alternatively, the men in yellow might even explore a different path this season by targeting a seam-bowling all-rounder. For other teams, many of whom already have more balanced and settled squads, the focus will simply be on filling specific gaps. With that in mind, here are the five overseas all-rounders expected to garner massive bids this IPL season.

1. Cameron Green

Cameron Green has already built a strong IPL resume in just two seasons. His first year was explosive with a century and consistent big scores, while his second season showed maturity with runs and wickets combined. He hits at the top order, bowls in useful spells and plays with the confidence of someone far ahead of his experience level. His overall numbers position him as one of the most complete overseas all rounders currently available in the league.

Bought previously for 17.50 Cr (2024), Green will always attract attention because he fills multiple roles at once. Any team needing a top order presence along with seam bowling support will be interested. He is someone who can anchor, accelerate or shift momentum in a single passage of play, making him a premium auction asset.

2. Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell may have up and down seasons but when he gets going he produces innings few players can replicate. His shot range, ability to counter spin and knack for bowling handy overs make him a multidimensional option. The 2023 season reminded everyone how destructive he can be when locked in, and even during poor patches he still contributes through bowling or fielding.

Previously bought for 4.20 Cr, Maxwell remains an attractive pick because teams want unpredictable players who can change the game’s tone quickly. Middle order X-factor is always in high demand and his off spin adds balance. Even one Maxwell innings can set a tournament tone, which is why teams keep the door open for him.

3. Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga, after experiencing a slump over the past year in both international cricket and franchise leagues, finally seems to have rediscovered his rhythm. In 2025, he has picked up 17 wickets in 12 matches while also making valuable contributions with the bat. This is a strong improvement compared to last season, where he managed just 11 wickets in 11 matches and struggled with a higher economy rate.

However, when conditions favour spin, Hasaranga can be absolutely lethal. With Chennai Super Kings trading Ravindra Jadeja and actively searching for a quality spin-bowling all-rounder, Hasaranga could be a compelling option. He offers stability with the bat in the lower order and forms a potentially deadly combination with Noor Ahmed. If either of them creates pressure from one end, wickets are almost certain to follow from the other.

From an IPL Predictions standpoint, Hasaranga’s resurgence makes him a strong contender to be one of the most impactful all-rounders should CSK or any franchise decide to bring him on board this season.

4. Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra showed his explosive side in the IPL immediately with his stroke play and confidence up the order. Across his first two seasons he scored quick runs, adapted to situations and maintained a strong strike rate. His aggressive approach makes him a perfect fit for teams wanting intent from ball one. Even though his bowling is underused, he remains a developing all round option long term.

Bought previously for 4.00 Cr, Rachin could become useful for any franchise seeking a left handed top order batter who can score freely against pace and spin. His profile suits modern T20 batting structures. As he gains more experience, the all round package will only improve, making him a strong investment.

5. Liam Livingstone

Livingstone brings power hitting, confidence and the ability to bowl two types of spin. In 2023 he delivered a strong season with 279 runs and continued to provide cameos and breakthroughs in the following years. His batting style is built on fearlessness and his best knocks show just how destructive he can be anywhere in the order.

Bought earlier for 8.75 Cr, Livingstone offers value to teams needing a floating batter or an impact middle order presence. His ability to launch from ball one and provide matchup overs makes him strategically useful. When he connects well, he can alter the entire direction of an innings instantly.
