IPL Mega Auction 2025: Most Expensive Players Over the Years

A new season of the Indian Premier League will go on the floor in 2025 but before that, IPL mega auctions will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. These auctions will identify the real strength of all the franchises for the upcoming season of IPL.

IPL 2025 will see some major changes in every squad as some of their key players have been released. These key players will appear in the mega auctions and will be expecting a hefty contract in Jeddah.

However, in the past, it has been observed that some big names have achieved a hefty contract without any expectations. Their performance in international cricket was exceptional or they were the brand name in the shortest format of cricket. These players had the betting odds on the online betting apps for the Indian Premier League.

Below is the list of players who have signed a big contract amount from the mega auction in the past in IPL.

Most Expensive Players in IPL Mega Auction Over the Years

In the previous IPL auctions, that occurred in 2024, Australia’s Mitchell Starc turned out to be the costliest player. However, his performance was not as good as it was expected.

Mitchell Starc has been released from the KKR squad and he will be trying his luck again in the mega auctions.

1) Rishabh Pant (Base Price Rs 2 crore)

India’s star batsman and former Delhi Capitals skipper, Rishabh Pant, will be in the spotlight during the auctions. He has been released from the Delhi Capitals squad and multiple franchises will have his name on the shopping list. Pant made his comeback to the Indian Premier League after missing out on one season because of his recovery from the road accident. He became the leading scorer for Delhi Capitals but failed to help the team to even reach the playoffs. However, his value is defined by his stats and without a doubt he will be creating a buzz during the mega auction.

2) Phil Salt (Base Price Rs 1.5 Crore)

Kolkata Knight Riders have released England’s Phil Salt and that has created an opportunity for other teams to make use of his talent. Phil Salt is a T20 expert batsman who can score runs for the team from the start of the match. His talent lies in playing the pace attack efficiently and scoring runs on a higher strike rate. Salt of KKR’s 2nd highest scorer last year and he will be expected to continue his momentum this year as well.

3) Arshdeep Singh (Base Price Rs 2 Crore)

After being associated with Punjab Kings for 5 years, Arshdeep Singh has parted ways with the franchise to try his luck in the mega auction. Arshdeep is a T20 expert bowler who can swing the ball in the early hours of the game and he is also a death-over specialist. In the previous edition of IPL, Arshdeep was the 2nd highest wicket-taker for Punjab Kings and he is the leading wicket-taker for team India in 2024 in the shortest format of the game.
